I'm just grateful for the CFP system. Otherwise we would have been left out in the cold again. #stillbitteraboutthe2002FiestaBowl

No way that happens in the Sugar Bowl.

Here's a link to all the unis. I like the idea behind OSU's base layer.

Woah is right, I know the OSU game was an ass whoopin' but did his seat really get that hot? Is his wife from Corvallis? How big is the check?

Seems odd to jump from Whiskey to Reser's Salsa.

Blown away.

Congrats to DeCarolis for pulling that off.

Hard to believe Wisconsin could have been unhappy with Anderson.

I think OSU upgraded.

wisky wasn't unhappy w/ andersen, he was unhappy w/ them. they're cheap (asst coach pay is weak) and admissions is tough to deal w/.

osu failed up so good. he's a great coach.

check out this timeline though:
wisky rb says he's coming out
texas rb commit, decommits, expected to head to wisky (he's been eyeing them forever)
wisky hc leaves for osu

now, the rb is good, so i can't imagine whoever takes over won't take him, but that's pretty funny.

Good for GA, bad for Utah. He's going to do well at Oregon State.

Yep, word is frustrated with Wisconsin over admission standards, $$$ to pay assistant coaches.

So a raise, lower admission standards, more $$$ for assistants, back to the West....wins, wins and more wins.

Is it a fact that OSU has more $ for assistants than Wisc? I find that suprising to say the least.

No, I am reporting rumor, I have not seen what will be Dave Aranda's new contract....Laughing

I am not sure OSU has more $$$$ for assistants than Wisconsin, but I sounds like OSU is willing to spend more for assistant coaches.

^this article says no.

Maybe OSU is saying they are opening the pocketbook? IDK. I would have never, ever, ever, ever said this would be the coaching situations at Neb, OSU and Wisc a month ago. Shock is too light a word.

Isn't that misleading, as just leaving and staying = gives the coordinators raises? I'd bet they're all getting raises, bank on it.

Now just got to academics, so is this a butthurt UW Alumn writer... Laughing

Like Jt said, OSU fell into an upgrade in coaching. I don't think for a second, that is going to come at a static salary structure.

The issue is that Barry Alvarez is a cheap bossy boss with a huge ego ($100 says he 'agrees' to coach for the Outback Bowl).

Any head coach at Wisconsin is going to be in his shadow, under his thumb, and they will be miserable. Especially if they make some poor coaching decisions and lose big games.

I'm sure Anderson made discreet phone calls to every college with a head coach opening after the game and jumped at the first opportunity presented. And Bielema probably did the exact same thing 2 years ago.

All the talk about salaries and pay and admissions is bs. You don't surprisingly leave Wisconsin for Oregon State unless you are miserable.

^This makes alot of sense. I got a kick out of the bronze Barry outside of Camp Randall. I looked at my buddy from Wisc and said Barry is still alive, right?(i was 99 % sure). He shook his head and laughed.

I am sure Andersen is getting a bump in salary, but there has to be something else besides money. OSU isnt coming strong with the checkbook after anyone, its just a fact.

it's not bs - those are legit issues. it's just a way to say something publicly w/o slamming king barry on the way out. what do you want him to say?

Well what Andersen actually said is he is more of a west coast guy. And yes that is a legitimate issue when you are in the Midwest. obviously not the underlying issue, which in my mind makes it bs. But I'll be willing to compromise and call it legitimately bs.

Former Wisconsin Badgers coach and current AD Barry Alvarez will be back on the sideline as he'll coach the team for the Outback Bowl in the wake of Gary Andersen's departure, ESPN's Kirk Herbstreit reported Thursday.

Andersen looks to push Wisconsin

By Travis Haney | December 4, 2014 10:11:32 AM PST

Gary Andersen does not want out at Wisconsin, but those familiar with the program say the second-year coach is becoming increasingly frustrated by the school’s admissions policies.

Additionally, Wisconsin has been slow to evolve when it comes to paying assistants what has become customary market value elsewhere.

“He’s afraid of losing Dave,” a coach told me, referring to Badgers defensive coordinator Dave Aranda, who should have been a Broyles Award finalist after the outstanding job he’s done in 2014.

Whichever SEC teams miss out on Will Muschamp -- whether it’s Auburn, Texas A&M or South Carolina -- could wind up pushing for Aranda. Each would likely offer in the $1 million per year range.

Andersen came from Utah State and is making a little more than $2 million a year. If another comparable program came with an offer, he would likely be listening -- if for no other reason than to get the administration’s attention. Then again, it let the last guy walk.

The chasm between the coaches and board’s wishes has been widening the past five or so years, one source said, adding that it’s the biggest reason why Bret Bielema left for Arkansas.

Could Andersen be next, or will Wisconsin change with the times?

Word is that OSU is giving GA 2.45M with annual 100K raise and plenty of incentives.

Not super worried about that. He's going to get himself & his assistants some $$$. If Whit was leaving, Gary would know and be packing for SLC, not Corvallis.

The coaching carousel if nothing else is quaility entertainment.

Starting this year Whittinghams seat was warm(not hot) now Mich is after him? I think he is a fine coach(honestly) but they had him 4 years ago and his name is Rich Rod.

Whit = defensive mind. RichRod = offensive mind.

But RichRod is on a roll now.

You're 100% correct, there were plenty of alumni/boosters that were ready to go after GA or turn the program over to Sitake, after a few losses this year.

Personally, I think this year has been a big overachievement.

There is some bad blood with coaches & administration over not getting extensions last year(guess that had been standard). Think Whit may have been the only coach under contract after this year. Maybe Dave Christensen?
