Will this require them to pay taxes?
If A=Yes then I really don't see a problem. They're here, they ain't leavin anytime soon (especially if you prefer inexpensive produce), may as well set up a program where they pitch in for the services they use. _________________

I am not anti immigrant. In fact quite the opposite, I agree 100% that the overwhelming majority are hardworking people trying for a better life.
However, if the crisis on the border is in fact fueled by the belief that those that get here can stay this is just another big ass log on that fire. _________________ Is President Obama a Keynesian? |

eeven73, FWIU this is for existing (established, i suppose) workers that have been present for years.
I have no clue how they know who has been here for a while. _________________

I pray he does. I have 3 ex-employees I had to part from for that very reason. Some of the best in the business and legality gives some lazy jackass the position instead... _________________

Does that make any difference to the perception, real or not, that if you can get here you can stay here?
Isn't this a big ass middle finger to the problem on the border. Whether you come at if from a humanitarian perspective or border security perspective how is this not ill timed at best and completely political at worst. _________________ Is President Obama a Keynesian? |

It's wonderful for lots of small business owners (including me) to have and endless supply of cheap labor. How good it is for the "working man" the president purportedly champions, methinks notsomuch... _________________

I think we ought to have a much more open border program, where workers can easily come here, work, earn a living, pay taxes and go home...or stay if they want. ALL incentives for coming here other than work need to disappear. The problem irons itself out pretty quickly if that's the case.
I have no problem with work permits being issued. Where I have the problem is just taking care of them because they decided to leave their country. _________________ If love is blind, why is lingerie so popular? |
