My sister and I were joking about driving to Canada, but now we're actually going to do it (unless job interviews get in the way). Any midwest people have any advice on things to do/see? Here is our tentative plan:

-Leave Friday August 1st around 8pm, arrive at Niagara Falls for sunrise
-Arrive in Toronto mid-day Saturday, stay 2 nights
-Go to the Grotto (Lake Huron) on the Bruce Peninsula on Monday, spend 1 night camping
-Drive to Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore (Lake Superior) on Tuesday, spend 2 nights camping
-Pass by Lambeau Field and maybe a brewery in Milwaukee on the way to Chicago on Thursday, spend 2 nights. Go to a Cubs game
-Drive to Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore and then to somewhere around Hanging Rock, OH to camp for Saturday night.
-Return home to Roanoke on Sunday

I can provide some ideas on things to do in Niagara Falls and Toronto once you firm up.

Wrong end of lake Ontario for me to suggest anything.... If it were me, stop and take your pictures of niagra falls and then continue to Toronto. Niagra Falls is just a huge cluster F that's more over priced than Long Island.

Laughing Besides, going to the Falls, going to the Casino, and getting your $30 meal voucher for one of the fine chain restaurants that charges double the price of any of their other affiliate restaurants? lol. Niagara Falls is a dump. I'd check out the falls and keep driving to Toronto.

That's the plan-take some sunrise pictures at the falls and continue on to Toronto. I just love waterfalls so it's a must for me.

What are some recommended Toronto activities?

There's a million things you can do just really depends on what you're interested in. I don't think the Jays are in town that weekend otherwise it's neat to see a different stadium, but there's still the CN/Tower Ripleys Aquarium right near there. Nightlife if you're into that, lots of shopping, hockey hall of fame, Toronto Island, tons of different places to eat.

Traffic right now is a gong show, but should be a little better if you're in on the weekend. There is major construction going on right now on some of the major downtown arteries.

There is all sorts of stuff to see and do in Chicago depending on what your interests are.

Wrigley, Murphy's before the game, and the bars along North Clark St would be a must for a two day trip to Chicago.

Past that just walking through Millenium Park, along the waterfront, or up Michigan Ave is worth it if you haven't been and want to go cheap.

An architecture tour from the water (probably at the top of the list), going up in the Hancock Tower or the Willis Tower, the Field Museum, and taking a ride in the Ferris Wheel one night are all worth it if you want to spend a few dollars.

ontrider, hockey hall of fame...didn't think of that-good one. CN Tower for sure, what is Toronto island all about?

brew, Cubs are playing when we'll be there. Mr. Green And I hear wrigleyville is a must. Willis Tower would be really cool as well.

Anyone know anything about Sault Ste Marie? Worth a stop or no? Same with Milwaukee. I know they're famous for beer but that's about the extent of my knowledge.

I've been to Milwaukee to watch the Brewers play, but that's the extent of my Milwaukee knowledge. They have a nice ballpark.

There is a bunch of stuff there a lot of kid friendly and family things to do, but really it's just kind of neat to see the city from the water and from the island vs. being "in" the city.

The Soo is pretty boring. Although I would suggest stopping to watch some of the barges go through the locks, that's actually pretty cool.

If you're into beer there are a couple of breweries in the UP. There's one in Grand Marais (The Dunes Bar). Get the whitefish dinner and a sandstone IPA. That's also the easternmost end of the Pictured Rocks. You can hike in past the Sable Falls to Lake Superior which is a cool quick hike.

You could also hit Tahquamenon Falls on your way from the Soo. It's a little out of the way but if you're into falls you might like it.

Milwaukee has a tons to do. If your looking to do a brewery tour skip the Miller tour and do the Lake Front Brewery tour. If your in to architecture or art check out the art museum designed by Santiago Calatrava. Great bar and restaurant scene that won't break the wallet. Like Brew mentioned, great stadium as well. Tons of parks, beer gardens, brewery tours, boat tours, some neat hip neighborhoods such as Brady, Downer, East Side, Bay View, Third Ward. Depending on when you pass through there is always a festival of some kind going on in one neighborhood or the other.

Oh yeah, and make sure to get a picture with the bronze statue of the Fonz.
