|

I get my fair share of spam calls. Today was probably the best.
I get a call from the number 202-864-1267. Person on the phone said they are from the IRS and to contact Officer Foster.
I call the number right back and the person said I needed to wait 30 minutes before I can call back. Well I did not. I called and called. Guess it made him mad because I would not let up. I guess I pissed the spammer of. He told me that I needed not worry who I was calling and that I should go get a job at McDonalds. I informed him that he should go F himself and stop scamming people.
I felt really good actually making a scammer angry.
I next called the real IRS and they told me that they have had such a large amount of this so called IRS scamming that they refer people to another agency. I am going to call them tomorrow and report the number but have a feeling nothing can be done.
There should be a way to put an end to a USA number that is caught scamming people. Sure they can get another number but it is just way to easy for these people to continue to do what they do. _________________ Wakeskating

I don't know if you can, but I block numbers all the time. Depending on yourphone service it might be quite simple. _________________

Oh blocking him from calling me is not what I want.. I would like another call from him so I can continue to give him $hit.
I have called him 5 times tonight.. I think he blocked my number.. haha.. I was going to call him from all the numbers in my home but I don't want him having all the other numbers on our business account. _________________ Wakeskating

Contact Tom Mabe and see if he would be willing to let you forward your phone for a few days so he can answer and deal with them. _________________ If love is blind, why is lingerie so popular? |

I had a situation about a year ago where I kept getting phone calls from some random number and the dude(heavy accent) kept asking to buy my "loan portfolio". I repeatedly told him I had no idea what he was talking about and to take my number off the list. I am not in any kind of field that would generate a "loan portfolio" and I could not figure out if this was a lead into a scam or what. anyone ever have anything similar? oh and AT&T wants 4.99 per line per month to block. _________________ Is President Obama a Keynesian? |

eeven73, really (About ATT)???
I can just go in to my "digital phone manager" at home and block people. Here at work, we use 8x8 for VoIP and I can go in and add them to the rule I created that just drops the call (they hear fast busy signal). _________________

Thats what they told me. I have an Iphone 5 and am pretty sure it doesn't have a number block feature. IIRC the 6 does. _________________ Is President Obama a Keynesian? |

eeven73, it's built in to iOS. Go into your call list, find the number you want to block, click on the (i) next to the number, and choose block. _________________

chavez,
No (i) next to numbers in my "Recents" list. I am running 6.1.3 of iOS due to second hand complaints about "updates" of iOS. And general lack of desire to work the learning curve of a major software update. _________________ Is President Obama a Keynesian? |

eeven73, ahh. Pretty sure that's iOS7+ feature.
If you are running an iPhone 5 you really should update. In reality, I haven't had any problems with running iOS7 on the 4S, but YMMV.
For what it's worth, there really isn't a learning curve to iOS7 vs iOS6. Everything is in the same places, the icons just look a little bit different. Hell, even my 3 year old can switch between them without issue. Pretty sure you can handle it! _________________

We have a home phone but do not use it or give it out. So, any time it rings its scammers\marketers. I like to set my outgoing vmail message to "hello.....yes, how are you" to waste their time. Lately, Ive just been leaving it plugged into the fax. _________________ TONA

chavez,
Sadly my 2.5 year old dominates me in understanding of our Ipad . Couple months ago on a flight I pulled out old school dvd player to watch a movie. 21 year old next to me, "whoa what is that thing?" Its not even 10 years old _________________ Is President Obama a Keynesian? |

eeven73, ROFL.
My kid doesn't know how to use a mouse. I'm not convinced he ever will need to.
jason_ssr, same here. I give out my Google Voice number and let it play gatekeeper for me. _________________

still don't know how to paste in excel and get the cells to format both formula and size. Would take any tips avaliable on that. _________________ Is President Obama a Keynesian? |

Put their number into your fax machine and retry 1000 times. That should do it. _________________ There'll be two dates on your tombstone/ And all your friends will read 'em/ But all that's gonna matter is that little dash between 'em... |

We get phone calls almost weekly from "duct cleaning" services that originate in either India or Pakistan... I've thought of just calling and asking the phone company if they can block all calls from those countries since I don't know anyone there anyway.
These guys are relentless though and they must get yelled at all day long. I've had a number of them hang up on me, one guy even told me I was gay because he was mad I kept him on the line so long and wasted his time. I usually keep them on the phone, tell them my house is huge (which doesn't fit into their script) so they have to get a manager and then I usually tell him to f off and hang up. It's also fun to ask where they're calling from (what city) and they'll say "Ontario" but pronounce it wrong and they usually introduce themselves with a "white" name in the thickest accent ever... it's kind of funny.
I can get them to hang up on me every time now, but at this point it's just annoying and not even fun anymore. |

Years ago my brother and I would really screw with telemarketers any chance we got.
We would pretend to be drunk and scream and yell at our "wife" slap our hands together while the other screamed like they were getting beat. Really suprised the cops never knocked on the door _________________ Is President Obama a Keynesian? |
