Hi Guys,

I need your advice...

I live in Belgium and started wakeboarding last year. Unfortunately wakeboarding is not so popular here so can't ask any friends for help.
Here's a link to a video where you can see my 'wake to wake' attempts.

http://youtu.be/ZMsk4Mhb9hk

As you can see I can't really get enough air to clear both wakes. Also it's hard for me to keep my 2 hands on the handle bar while jumping. For some reason I always let go of my back hand for balancing...

Unfortunately the conditions here are not very good. We wakeboard on the ocean (so almost never flat water), I don't have a tower and the height of the wake is average...

Thanks for any advice you guys can give me

Luke

Try to shorten up your rope. I would run a litter slower and then shorten your rope accordingly.

mt92, has a point on the rope length but it is hard to know whether the speed is too fast without knowing what kind of boat you're running, whether it has any weight in it, etc.

As far as your actual jumps go, you need to work on putting the handle on your front hip and holding it there with both hands. Holding the handle out away from your body with straight arms is hurting your balance. Also, it keeps you from absorbing the wake with your hips or low back.

Also, you need to stick that heelside edge into the water and cut WAY harder. The person recording you on video should be able to read the bottom of your board because you are cutting into the wake so hard. So you need to edge like 4 times harder than you are right now.

Thanks for the advice guys!

I'll shorten the rope length a bit and see if this works better for me.
The boat is a regal 2000, without extra weight etc.

I'll let you know if it works

Cheers,
Luke

Hi Luke,
you're absorbing a lot of energy of the wake by bending your knees. You want to stand as tall as possible when you hit and leave the wake. If you do this correct you'll get a lot more "pop" off the wake and jump higher and easier.
Edge isn't bad. You might want to look up some info about progressive edging and line tension though, if you're not too familiar with it.
Good luck and keep posting vids!
