Last two periods of the last game were by far the best ones played by the Leafs this season. Hope they can keep it up over the weekend.
Kessel, JVR and Lups are playing well. Clarkson coming back should be a boost. Team looks good so far! _________________ Impossible is not a a fact. It's an opinion. Impossible is not a declaration. It's a dare. Impossible is potential. Impossible is temporary. Impossible is nothing.

Avs continue to play well. Even have an alledged woman beater between the pipes.... I was surprised they started Varlamov Friday. Not that I assumed he'd sit while this worked itself out in the court system, but going out the next possible game seemed too soon.....
Speaking of goalies doing douchbag stuff, maybe Ray Emery should worry more about the possibility of a beachball getting by him and less about mixing it up.... Guess if you can't stop the puck, go punch the guy that can....even if he clearly doesn't want to go.....
looks like roy is teaching more than just hockey! _________________ Impossible is not a a fact. It's an opinion. Impossible is not a declaration. It's a dare. Impossible is potential. Impossible is temporary. Impossible is nothing.

Though his scrape with the law in this area appeared to be a far different circumstance, I hope this goes away, just like his did. Assuming that Varlamov didn't assault his girlfriend and her story is fabricated.... If he assaulted her, he should face the consequences of that.
Avs 12-1-0.....unbelievable start. Not in my wildest dreams would I have guessed this. Hell, 7-6-0 would have been a very positive start.
Now that was the Avs I was expecting.... Porous defense, looking lost often, bursts of "wow" but a lot of..."what?" I missed the last 30 minutes(had a hockey game to go watch), but it looks like it mirrored the first 30....
That okay.....what a great start! GO AVS!
Erik Johnson was assessed a 10-minute misconduct at the end of the second period for handing his broken stick to a fan in the stands....really...

Thanks, good read. I am in agreement, the goaltending will come back to earth....saw a bit of that last night...where both Jiggy and Varly were shelled...
If the Avs can just go .500 the rest of the season, it will be win all day long.
It's similar to the leafs start - hot, sure, but primarily due to efficient scoring and goal tending. You can't consistently win giving up 15 more shots per game than you take!
Leafs have some great scorers and the goalies are looking good, but until they own games, they're not true contenders. _________________ Impossible is not a a fact. It's an opinion. Well, a 7-0 win at home for the Oilers is a bright spot in a disasterous season (even if it was against Columbus). Standing Ovation had a bit of a sarcastic tone to it.
I'm going to be at the Blackhawks/Flames game next week in Cow Town.
Sending good JuJu to the Peverly camp. Crazy stuff last night. Watching that on SportsCenter this morning gave me chills. Couldn't imagine being on the bench for something like that.
Puts a smile on my face that the tough SOB reportedly ask in the ambulance if he could go back in the game.....hockey players....
Avs pull out another win. Sweet justice that it happened in front of Byfuglien, who's hijinx with Varlamov after the Jets win previously still makes me wish someone would run that DB.

Ya that was pretty scary stuff. It reminded me of the time Chris Pronger, when a young player for the Blues, took a slapshot to the chest and it put him on the ice as he turned blue.
My buddy in STL always hated Pronger and would only call him "The Tin Man" after that incident. My buddy maintained that Pronger had no heart when he played hockey and that if he had a heart that shot would have stopped it and killed him. _________________

Avs!!! Chasing Mucks 'Hawks! Unbelievable season, couldn't have believed this in October. I REALLY wanted Roy, but he has exceeded expectations. Dutchie has had a career year, Landy is a Monster, the Rook...Monster, Varley crazy good... Wow! Fun year!

I was VERY skeptical of the Sakic/Roy combo, but hoped like hell it would work. Glad to have been proven wrong. This season has been a hell of a lot of fun! _________________

Way to go Minny! Now Avs just have to win....and keep winning, their positioning is in their hands now. (Though tied, getting outplayed in Vancouver)
Start of the year, I was just hoping to slip into the playoffs.Crazy year...how much difference does a coach and a monster rookie make(relatively the same team otherwise)... From second to the worst in the league, to a player...

Yep a win out gives them the division as they hold the tiebreakers on STL and CHI. They still need to catch Anaheim, though. Nice part of that is that one of the last 2 games is the season finale at Anaheim! _________________

As I understand it, any win by the Avs(next 2) or any loss by St. Louis & the Avs win the Central. I was talking winning out and winning the Western Conference. 1 point behind Anaheim, so winning out would put them 1 point ahead of the Ducks, right?
What an awesome game last night. Roy pulls Varlamov early for the extra skater(has done this numerous times in the regular season), Stastny nets it late...OT! Then Stastny for the GW. MacKinnon played big with 3 points.
All in all, great win, pulling that out down 2 with 13m to go.
Wow, 'Hawks snatch a loss from Victory. Poor decision by Seabrook to blow up Backes....and will probably cost him game 3. Too many penalties for the 'Hawks, need to be more deciplined if they want to get back in this.
