So the new league year has started and free agency is here. Time for a new thread.

Looks like lots of movement as usual. Starting with my own team (KC), 3 OL are ready to sign with other teams (Albert to MIA, Schwartz to ???, Asamoah to ATL?). Seems like a lot to lose a LT and both guys who played RG for you at one time. Not as worried about the OT spot, hoping Reid/Dorsey can find a bargain at RG and some depth on the OL cheaply. KC has several other needs and not a ton of cap space.

There is going to be a whole lot of OG talent out there in free agency. Smith, Johnson, Ware, etc etc etc etc etc

Big names that might be had cheap with a gigantic chip on their shoulders....

Nice day for the Broncos on Tuesday. Losing Beadles is unfortunate.

I heard DP talking about Beadles driving to work this AM.

He is going from one of the best teams to the worst team. 600K to 5MM.

What kind of discount would you take to stay in Denver?

Not much, maybe 1.5M over the length of the deal, but not a dime on the guaranteed money. These guys have a VERY SHORT time to make a living at this. Winning is great, but I wouldn't mortgage my future for wins.

I don't disagree.

Personally I would have to weigh my personal happiness.(I think) I hate losing and would be miserable at my "JOB" getting beat every week with little or no hope of progress. What is that worth? Obviously it is easy to say alot not being in the situation, and I understand the short window these guys have.

Thought it was an interesting point of discussion.

With the NFL, how it is set up with FA, non-guaranteed contracts, parity....being worst can change year to year. Going from worst to competitive is very doable. Only one team can win it all, so competitive is all you really want to be....just a team in the race.

So I don't think signing this deal makes Beadles destine for a team that will be a bottom feeder for his time there. Nor would it have meant that resigning with the Broncos would mean he would win for the next X # of years....

^ I agree with this.

There are franchises that are stuck in stuff and others that manage the current system quite effectivly.

I don't think it is a reach to say that J,ville has been stuck in stuff.

Yes, the Jags have had some rough years as of late, but do have new ownership...right, I think?

Broncos need to go out and get S. Smith!

F'ing Broncos. Hatred forecast: 100% chance of severe hatred in next 1-2 seasons.

Yes new owner.

However, his changes have decreased performance. It don't look good for the forsee able future. Which given the above, current CB agreement is prob 3 maybe 5 years.
