Hey guys, I am a complete beginner when it comes to wakeboarding and skiing. I have been out on the water but only a pontoon and my dads bass boat. We were looking into getting a bow rider, but after looking around we decided to go with something with a little more HP and versatility so we started looking into wake/ski boats. I have a budget of about $20k, not really looking for anything fancy for my first boat but want a good wake and dependable boat. I really have no idea or direction to go from there, a few boats I have looked at '98 Moomba Kanga, '99 Moomba Mobius, '97 Ski Centurion, 00' Supra Launch, and then I found a nice 05' Moomba Mobius LS for 22k. I'll provide the links, thanks for any help!

Honestly, all the boats are going to be a great first boat for you. Moomba's are definitely a more affordable wakeboard boat comared to it's competition. All the Moomba's that you have there are solid boats, but simply because of looks and age, if you can swing the little extra cash I'd go with the 2005 Mobius LS. Great looking boat, just as good of performance of any of the other boats, but also with a 2005 you know you are going to run into less mechanical problems at this point.

2nd - Supra Launch

3rd - 98 Moomba Kanga 4th of July Ready (probably the best bang for you buck, looks really well taken care of, but you'll want maintenance records of the engine)

I was looking into the '05 Mobius, it seems like a good all around boat.

The '98 Kanga looks like it was well taken care of and it seems like they did a pretty good, recent overhaul of a lot of things, and that is why I really liked it, it looks sharp but I am concerned about the seating capacity since it is a closed bow, how do you think it would do with 6 people tubing, wakeboarding, and swimming?

The '00 Supra only worries me because it has 675 hours on the "new" motor so the hull probably has close to 1000, is that too much?

Hours on a hull wouldn't bother me at all. Mine has 2223 hours, the hull is still the hull. Upholstery does wear out of course so check how that is.
Mobius would also be my choice.

I have a 2000 supra launch that I am considering selling. The wake is amazing you should come ride it sometime if your not to far from anderson sc. It's fully loaded with tower, tower speakers, 3 wake racks and 1 surf rack (holds 6 wakeboards and 2 surfs, perfect pass wakeboarder pro, over 4k lbs of ballast, LEDs and much more. The upholstery isn't perfect but it hasn't bothered me to much since all we do is surf and wake. It also has newer supra decals, 4 blade stainless prop, and a wake plate that you can control from the dash. Very nice boat and definatly a wake you could never outgrow.
