In the Market to Replace my Premier135 - Suggestions?

I can't believe that my beloved 2003 Premier135 DNA board is now 10 years old! I still ride it with the Parks bindings. I tried a brand new board today and I couldn't get over how light it was!!

Before I go buying the first board I see/ride, I thought I'd ask around to see if anyone has any suggestions on boards/bindings I should try. I would like something with a similar shape as my Premier (I've always ridden it finless), but its super heavy!! Also, I would like to upgrade to some closed-toed bindings.

Any suggestions?

I bought the Ronix FHL board for my wife. She is just a beginner but it has given her the confidence to charge the wake. She has been riding on a old obrien setup that was really heavy. She was getting halfway on her wake to wakes yesterday.

I would recommend this board. It is super light. And it has the two molded in fins with a removable center fin. The rocker line appears close to the premier. It is 2.6" which is the same, and it is blended continuous/3 stage. From what I read on your link these should have a similar rocker line.

The shape is a little different, but it seems the trend in board construction is to make wider tips and tails for more surface area. Also, this board is a women's specific model.

The bindings are amazing. I have two pairs of Ronix bindings and love mine. My wife loves hers as well. They are super comfy and put your feet right on the board with the baseless system.

Boards now are leaps and bounds ahead of what you're used to riding, but anything with a hybrid rocker and molded-in fins will likely be what you're looking for to try and capture the ride of your Premier (one of my favorite decks of all time by the way!). Do you want to stick with Hyperlite or are you not too brand loyal?

From the Liquid Force line either the Jett or Wing will probably treat you well. Molded-in fins just like the premier on both of them. The two have somewhat different shapes but both will be a solid ride.

Yo! Things are so different now, you should really ride a few. Premier was a game changer, and most modern boards have all those characteristics and then some. They are a bit lighter now, so you can get away with a little more size (bigger pop, softer landing) without the heavier swing weight.

Ronix bindings are ahead of the game right now. I like the Parks because they are light. I kiteboard mostly so weight matters. Cant go wrong with any of them.

I really liked the Premier back in the day. Now my favorite is (still) the Witness, which is the same shape as the Jett. Give it a try!

I just bought the 2012 Ronix FHL 136 and bindings for a screaming deal. Thanks msg917 for breaking it down for me. After some research this morning and talking to a few friends, I knew that this would be the setup for me. I rode the 2013 version of these bindings yesterday and loved them.

Can't wait to break in my new board!!

Awesome setup. That is the same board my wife has, but 132. She loves how light it is and it has improved her confidence on the water since switching from an entry level package setup. The picture doesn't do the graphics justice, this baby sparkles in the sun.

I took my brand new board out on it's maiden voyage today on the Delta. I love it!!! I can't get over how light this board is. I was able to put it on and take it off the board racks with one hand!!

As for the actual ride, I left the center fins on the board, just to get a feel for how it rides. I'm glad I did because I was able to slide around on this board fairly easy with the fins on. I think if I take the fins off, the board might be to squirrelly for me. On my Premier 135, I took off the center fins and loved it, but the molded fins on that board are a lot bigger than the ones on the Ronix FHL.

There is incredible pop with this board. I love how easy this board launches me in the air. The landings are pretty soft too. It's going to take some getting used to with the closed toed bindings, but my feet feel really secure in them. I like that. I don't like how hard it is to get my feet into them though. I'm hoping they loosen up a bit after a few more rides.

I never thought I could love another board as much as my Premier. After today, I know that I can. Thanks for the recommendations!!
