I just picked up a pair of Rev 10's and now I'm researching the best option for powering them. I've currently got the following in the boat

4 - XS650
1 - XS12
1 - Syn4
1 - Alpine MRD-M301

The Syn4 is currently running my 4 XS650 and my Kicker tower speakers. The alpine is running the XS12.

My current thoughts are to go w/ an Arc Audio KS 300.4 or a Precision Power 900.4 to run the new Rev 10's. Remove the Alpine amp and run the XS12 bridged off the Syn4.

I'd like to pickup another Syn4 but it's hard to justify the price difference between the Arc and the Wetsounds for essentially the same amp. Just looking to get others opinions.

I have a syn4 pushing my rev10s. If I had to do it again, I would just go with a precision power 900.4 for 1/3 the price. I've thought about selling my syn4 to offset the cost of getting two precision power 900.4s. One for the rev10s and one for the inboats.

Make sure you don't push too much power to the xs12. A friend of mine melted the voice coils on his pushing it with a syn1.

Can I run the Syn4 bridged at 2 ohms? Everything I'm reading is saying no. After researching more this morning I'm starting to lean towards buying a PPI 900.4 and a PPI 1000.1 and pulling out the alpine.

This would give me the 900.4 for the pair of Rev 10's and the 1000.1 for my XS12. The RMS on the 1000.1 at 2ohms is only 525 watts. The XS12 is rated at 500rms. I've also got an appointment with a local shop to have them tune the system for me after I get everything installed. I eventually want to beef up the sub which is why I'm leaning towards upgrading the sub amp now. I can get both PPI amps for less than a Syn4.

I don't think you can run the syn4 bridged at 2 ohms.

I'd run the syn4 on the rev10s, the 900.4 on the xs650s, and the 1000.1 on the xs12. For some reason I think I remember reading that the syn4 will put out more power than the 900.4 at 12.5v, but I can't seem to find any evidence to back that up.

Yea the Syn4 puts out more power. I would have liked to stay with all WS amps but I didn't have that much in the "fun" budget.

Just purchased the two PPI amps and plan to hook them up just like you mentioned. The Syn4 on my Rev 10's and the PPI 900.4 on my in boats. My current alpine sub amp is apparently only putting out 250 watts. The 1000.1 PPI will be pushing about 525 watts to the XS12.

As soon as I finish the install I'm taking it to a local shop to have them tune all of the amps for me so my drunk ass friends won't fry my stuff.

Thanks for the input JRW. You happy w/ the Rev 10's?

Yeah, I'm really happy with the rev10s. I had pro80s before the rev10s, and the rev10s are much better.

I'm moving up from a pair of Kicker KMT6's and one of those had a fried tweeter. I'm eager to hear the Rev 10's. Trying to find the time and right weather to do the install.

Finished my install a few weeks ago. I took it up to a local shop to have them tune my amps yesterday and they mentioned that they thought the 900.4 was a little weak for the XS-650's. He said it just didn't seem like they were pushing any highs like the 650's didn't have tweeters. He cranked the highs almost all the way up on the WS-420 and was somewhat satisfied with that.

I'm going to mess with the crossovers on the 900.4 some more and see if there is anything I notice that is out of adjustment.

After they finished the tune the system was rocking though. The Rev 10's sound amazing after having the KMT-6's on the tower for a few years. They suggested I upgrade my main power cable for 4 awg to 0 awg with all of the equipment I'm running. I'm pricing that out now as I'd rather be safe than sorry.

0awg is probably a good idea. I'm running 0awg from the battery to the terminal block and 4awg from the terminal block to the amps.

I have not heard of anyone saying the ppi 900.4 is weak. It's ratings at 12v are great.

How did they tune it? I used an smd dd-1 I borrowed from a friend.

I was advised by my dealer to run my syn4 and pair of rev10s at 400watts. But the only way I can see wiring that is bridged in mono? Is there a drawback to pushing 400watts each in mono vs stereo on a pair of rev10s?

That's how I have mine setup. I've read numerous threads where others have done the same.
