I'm not an SSV owner, but I spend a lot of time in different boats to make a sound judgement. In fact Friday was the first time I rode in one, it is now my favorite-comparing it to SAN, 21V, Centurion Hurricane and of course my Dixie Skier that is in my crew(we rotate boats).

I didn't drive it but, bow rise was minimal. That was w/900 in the locker and the sacks in the back (250 each). There were three people in the boat. I ride at 23 mph, 75 ft. The wake had a nice transition and was very firm. It was about the same size as the 21V, Dixie, and Hurricane. Definately more had more kick to it than the 21V and Hurricane, but not nearly as abrupt as the SAN (I actually prefer a ramp as opposed to being bucked off the SAN wake). I could have easly ridden 80' as it was still very clean.

We also wakesurfed it at 10.7 on PP, the wake was nice and the boat was planed good.

I most most impressed w/the features and quality of the interior. Bigger than the SAN and Hurricane. It felt wider than the 21V, but not as deep. I really liked the play pen bow, and the ability to raise the backs of the seats in the bow area. Access to storage under the observers seat was also easy to access and didn't require people to shuffle around. Also a wakeskate fit into the ski locker w/the sac filled up, a bonus when the board racks are filled.

The storage in the v-drive compartments was the smallest that I'd seen, as the sacks took up all the room leaaving little space for ropes and vests. The 21V has the most storage.

I also liked the cooler under the observers seat that drained, I thought it was a good feature. There was also lots of drink holders.

Didn't use the stadium seating, but the guy gave me a demonstration. It looked cool.

As far as the build quality, on par w/the others. I'd have to spend more time in it to pick it apart.

Well that's my take on the SSV. Oh yeah, it was the Gravity Games edition. I'd take the sponsor logos off if it were mine. It's a pretty obnoxious looking for my tastes.

maybe ralph maybe...i can get a good deal on a 2004,but my maristar has never let me down, although i treat it like s**t.oil changes once in 250 hours..double up beating, shoes allowed, propane conversion etc.
but it,s about time to upgrade.

thanx jay..i don,t know a 21v wake but i assume they are good.i hate to much bowrise it,s kind a dangerous having a dead angle in front of the bow.
specially on a crowded river.like a sunday afternoon.

If you order one, be sure to get the wakeplate as a factory option. It works just like trim on an I/O. Trim down to get onto plane, then trim up - Wake UP!

Never used the stadium seating. Will take some new wake pics this weekend and post 'em. If in doubt, go drive one.

Keith.

my friends just got one and are still breaking it in. i really liked it and even unweighted the wake still looked great. the wakeplates work well to reduce bowrise. never saw how the stadium seating, but i will be using it as soon as people start riding behind it and im videoing. i'll see if i can get ya some pics when we ride behind it on friday. looks good and has a nice finish as well.

Stadium seating offers a lot of flexibility. If its just a few of us we change to stadium so everyone can watch. Also moves the center of gravity a bit forward which helps. If its a group and we want to talk as well as ride, we revert back. Only complaint about stadium seating is I've caught my toe on the back of the seat once.
Echo the hydraulic wakeplate. Great for when crossing a busy lake to get to sheltered water...cuts down on the porpoising (sp) by being able to lower nose. Other than that, just leave it up

here is some pics. These boats produce really nice wake. The wake is not to bad without ballast but when you add weight they keep the shape really well and get big.

Question... how much weight are you guys adding to the boats to get a HUGE wake? I have heard that the SSV takes a good bit of weight to build up a really big wake. The ones I have been in have either had an unbelievable amount of weight, or lots of people, or both and the wakes have been nice. A friend has one with a 1000# ballast system and the wake was nice, but not big. I will be riding with anywhere from 2 to 6 people in the boat and want a scarey big wake, and I mean BIG.

Tiff, I have a 1000lbs bag up front and 800lbs on each side of the engine...they are the gravity games bags from barefoot Int.

I have two 540s one on each side of the motor and a 1000 pound bag in the ski locker this makes the wake really big and extremely hard. I just swapped out the factory bags with bigger ones. This makes it pretty nice because it doesnt use any interior space.

I've yet to ride a Supra Launch SSV w/ a "huge" wake, along with it being clean and solid.

Sorry Marty. I'm not knockin' your credibility at all. Everyone knows of your extensive knowledge in gear and that of boats and their wakes. Maybe I need to ride in yours, but the ones I've ridden in, w/ 2000lbs.+, the wakes were small, washy, and not very solid at all.

Also, here is a short video from riding the other night...we do something in Dallas called Wakeboard Wednesday with www.dallaswakeboarding.com

You can kinda get the idea of the wake in this picture. Yes there is a rooster tail and no the boat's nose is not pointing at the sky. This is behind my current SSV.

I'am going to have to agree with Umali and Russian hit it on the head. !!

Mcfly, although your wake looked better than the one I rode behind,it still looked like the same shape and not very clean. Nice video you all seem like your having a blast!!!

I've gotta throw my $.02 in here. I've ridden behind both McFly's SSV and another SSV weighted exactly the same way and can testify to the fact that the wake is HUGE!

Our group here in Dallas have just about every type of major boat so I can offer pretty sound opinions on each.

The SSV wake is very long and rampy as compared to my XStar or a SAN wake which is a bit peakier and has a harder lip. We rode behind a SSV Monday nite and then a SAN last night and you can definitely tell the difference between the two but I can guarantee the both are world class wakes.

The great thing about the SSV is that with the Gravity Games bags you can get all the weight you need w/o having any additional bags on the floor leaving more room. You are correct in saying the bags take up all the v-drive storage but we had 8 people + gear and didn't have any problems.

There is also NO bow rise and the boat has no problems planing w/ all that weight.

I ride behind a Gravity Games SSV quite a bit and I like the wake, personally. Used to have the 600lb bag up front with 250s in the lockers....last time we went out the new 1000 lb locker bag was in and we had 8 people in the boat - the wake was signifigantly bigger and still clean. I used to be anti Supra just because they weren't the Big 3, but I must say I really like the interior and the wake. I would most defintiely consider buying one if I had the dough.

I've never been in an SSV, but have spent alot of time in a Launch DD. With the factory ballast and a 600 in the basement, the wake was just fine for me. I liked the shape and the lip on top, kinda booted me. From the looks of Marty's video, the wake looks pretty damn nice, IMO.

Raider, I'm sorry, but that wake doesn't look big at all. Long, yes. Big, no.

Marty, I don't mean to suggest Supra doesn't make good boats, because they do. The quality certainly is there. I just don't think (from my own experience) the wake compares to Wakesetters, X-2s (2002 and older X-Stars), or Super Airs. As stated above, I think I need to ride behind yours, as I trust your judgement.

Raiders pic proves what I am saying. No offense to anyone, but I read alot of threads where people claim to have "huge" wakes and then you see a pic and it's not even knee high. I have ridden behind vlx's that the wake was mid-thigh high on a 6 foot man, very solid and clean to probably 95 feet. that in my opinion is a huge wake. Here is a pic of a vlx wake that is not even weighted properly, on 80 feet of line and going 23-24.
I should have a couple pics of my wake next week. 1800 lbs plus 8 people in the boat, we'll see how they come out.

Raider,

How tall is that guy in the pic? Like 4 foot nothin'? Sorry, looks long and rampy. Big? Maybe. But certainly not "huge".

My thoughts...
I've never ridden behind an ssv but I do have a launch dd and I have to say that the wake is MORE than enough to satisfy anyone. I'm sitting there looking at that picture of the vlx's wake and I'm thinking two things... 1. Damn that's a big wake. 2. Why isn't that guy any higher than the guys in McFly's video?

Just being big isn't everything I guess, there's gotta be something about the SSV's wake. Whatever it is, you can get the same height from the ssv as any other boat out there. The next time I go to the lake, I'll get a few pictures of my wake, it's just as big as that vlx's when we weight it all the way(normally just 2-4 extra bags and the onboard ballast tank.

I have actually heard that the supra dd puts out a better wake than the ssv. I have never been behind the dd so I can't say for sure, but thats what I have heard.

ok..since yesterday it is a matter of a 2004 supra or a 2004 malibu vlx.
i can get them both at dealer prices as part of a sponsoring kinda deal for my (still growing)wakeboarding school.
we use a 94 maristar 225vrs and a 89 supra saltare at the moment.it,s time for a upgrade.
i have to trade them both in for a brand new boat.
i,m well aware that the upholstery will last only 2 seasons because of the heavy use and abuse.
so if you had to ride a boat for aproxx 5 hours on a daily base wich one would you choose?
i will test them both myself ofcourse, but i like to hear what people have to say about them.
thanks for the footage mcfly.and all the input untill now.

p.s i don,t make a living out of the school i have to work also.

Riverside,
Have you looked into a DD Supra? It's a bit bigger and and a little more roomy on the inside. Not to mention the better wake and cheaper price.

Well you know what that means?? He's been in alot of boats and can tell you how that boat handles and performs. His opinion's have been spot on in describing a boat and its wake and I agree with them. There is one good thing about being a boat whore, you get to test them all out.

Yes, you can get a vert wake w/ the new VLX. Its new Wedge makes the wake way more vert than older Wakesetters.

You may want to call it as me "running down boats from skier choice," but fact is, I call it as I see it, regardless of the company.

"umali having no boat but lotsa opinions about other peeps baots"

What does me not having a boat have to do with it? If anything, if I had a boat, I would be biased towards the boat I owned, wouldn't you think?
