Hi,

I just started riding cable in addition to riding boat. Now that I have more time to pratice, I've started to ride switch a lot. My edging technique in regular stance is very good. When riding switch I'm having difficulties with my heelside edge. It always feels like I'm drifting with the back of my board (riding finless). Anyone knows what I could probably do wrong? I tried to copy my regular stance several times but can't seem to find out what I'm doing wrong. I guess it's something with my pressure level on both feet.

Any tips are welcome!

Thanks!

More weight on front foot, handle closer to body, hips forward, shoulders back.

and practice, practice, practice! Riding switch can be tough but keep working on it and you'll get there. Riding switch at the cable helped me a lot in getting comfortable with it. Any time you're not doing something regular stance, just ride switch, even if it's in a straight line while you're taking a break from ramps/rails.

do A LOT of switch riding, and a lot of carving in "S" shape. gradually you'll be able to carve faster and harder.

as for the drifting, it's because you're pointing the board in a certain direction wanting it to go exactly that way, yet you don't have the appropriate amount of edging needed for the direction. to solve this, readFlyZone CR's advice again.

Hey,

Something to try is first do what FlyZone CR said, then what I did to be more comfortable when learning to ride switch was working in between the wake doing slow carving and progressively working up to putting your self into or near a board slide. It took me a solid day to get comfortable with it then continued to progress. For a while thats how I would start for a warm up run was just getting back into cutting switch. I hope this helps. Good luck!
