My roommate has calipers, as he's a personal trainer. I'm feeling a little chunky right now!
I found a calculator online. I wonder how these stack up to those hand helds, or the hydrostat.

I'm not sure how accurate it is, but I think it is farily consistant and will give you a good marker to see where you are now compared to where you are in the future/past.
I have had it measured this way when I was in and out of shape and it gave me the results I expected. |

hand held are crap. standing ones are better. calipers are better than both, but you have to have someone trained to take a correct measurement, and subsequent measurements have to be from the EXACT SAME SPOTS or they mean nothing relative to the first measurement.
if you want a true reading, see if you can find a sports performance boutique that has an egg, or water displacement tank. |

I did a displacement test early this year which prompted some fairly radical dietary changes. Was getting on the chunky side of things. Down to a decent size again but still want to get into that "athlete" range again. _________________ If I agreed with you we would both be wrong. |

back in college, I did the displacement test with the UT cheer squad. Most of the chicks were 8 - 12% range. The guys ranged from 7% to 24%. I sat in the middle at 18%. I am a long way from that now. New goal is to be 15% by April of next year, which would put me in great shape for the MS150 and for our spring wakeboarding fest. _________________ Work SUX! |
