ok, so i decided to build the seating in my boat like i want. for those of you that have been here for a while know i have built my boat myself. everything from the outdrive, engine, new floor/stringers, even the sun deck. i used to have a captains chair along with a back to back that was never bolted down (cause i knew i was going to go wrap around). the next step is to build the amp racks, and the battery tie downs. might throw in a heater while im at it depending on cost. any way, heres the pics of the seat base frames. they will be epoxy primed, bed lined, then primed again for future painting. the grey is the sub box that i built a couple weeks ago. enjoy!

sorry for the blurry pic^^^^

this will be a cooler when im done. going to glass in some 1/2" insulation foam then bedline the inside. The side right behind the drivers seat will be a flip up lid to get to the inside. there is going to be a drain plumbed to the bilge.

awesome!

it would be cool to see all the build out pics, of the sundeck to.

Are you going to hinge the seats to flip up for storage? I have a 2150 I want to do the exact same thing with.

the seat cushions will just lift out like most wake boats out there. im still tryin to figure out the design for holding them in place, and the overall shape of the seat cushions.

2 things, 1 add the heater, you wouldn't believe how much you'll actually use it. Second skip the built in cooler and just leave room to set a cooler in there. Built in coolers are the biggest pain in the ass, don't underestimate how nice it is to take to cooler with all the empties and other trash out of the boat at the end of the day.

what makes built in coolers a pain in the ass? i was going to build a drop in cooler but the seat base wont be big enough to swallow a cooler, i thought of doing that but it would have to be so big it would be way to tall to be a useful seat. i could build a bracket to hold a small trash can inside the large compartment by the drivers seat???? that could be a good idea.

http://www.heatercraft.com/203-h-c-2h-complete-heater-kit/

this is the heater im thinking of putting in. right now i would be using the boat rather than building it, but the smoke is so thick from the wild fires around that it is uncomfortable to go.

They mean you have to load and unload everything twice. With a regular cooler you set it next to the fridge load it up, throw it in the boat and go. At the end of the day you pull it out throw the trash in the can, then carry the rest of it back to the fridge and unload it.

With a built in you have to get something to load the stuff in the fridge into, then carry it to the boat and unload it all into the boat cooler. Then at the end of the day drag the trash can over next to the boat and pick the trash out, then find something to carry all the stuff back in the house with, then unload it all again and put it back in the fridge.

It's not the end of the world or anything but a regular cooler is just a lot easier to use, and better insulated.

i find it a bit uncomfortable as it is on my boat to change the oil. this is with the top and bottom of the doghouse off..

When I was planning the same type of seating i was trying to figure out a full lift for the seat area where your sub is.

for changing oil, i have a vacume pump to suck the oil out of the dipstick tube. and for the filters, they are on remote mounts. its easy.

ridininmd, that makes sense, i was thinking of that, but i was thinking of how cool it would be to have the cooler built in. i think im going to build in a trash can holder in the large compartment, and for loading up the cooler, we usually buy the stuff (beer, soda, snacks, etc) at the gas station on our way to the lake so loading isnt any harder usually.

Keep in mind you also have to figure out getting the ice / water out of that built in cooler. I would honestly prefer a compartment with a drop in cooler over the built-in after living with one for the last few years.

I would third the no built in cooler after having them. A place for a drop in cooler would be ideal. This is an awsome build by the way. nice work.

Would a cooler not fit in the middle hole on the port side?

there is a drain thats going to be built into the cooler with a hose that will drain the water to the bilge, and the bottom has a 1/2" slant built in, and the drain is at the rear of the cooler. i built the seat bases to match the seat bases in the bow, at 12" tall, most coolers are taller (all of mine are). the shortest cooler that i have is 13" tall.

nope, no update. got busy with work and projects change. im tired of sinking my money into a bayliner. the boat is currently up for sale. looking for a saltare to rebuild. i feel my money would be better spent on that.
