I have 4 tower speakers that are not hooked up, 1-12" sub. and 4 speakers in the boat itself. So a total of only 5 speakers actually hooked up. Whenever I turn the volume up the deck shuts down. Anybody ever been through this?

It will be either a short or less likely a lack of power.

I assume you have an amp? What speakers are run from the deck and what from the amp?

An easy way to find a short is to runt he stereo each time in turn without a speaker hooked up. If it doe sit when a particular speaker is hooked up then that speaker has a short somewhere.

Hope that helps,

MIke

I had the same problem with my Supra it was a lack of power i installed a dual battery setup and now it works like a charm. Mine would shut off at high volume and then kick right back on. Dual battery is the way to go

Loose ground did the same for mine. Check the back panels.

I had this problem in my Moomba and it wound up being a bad speaker. A min or so after turning up the volume to boarding levels, the deck would shut down and it game some error on the screen. Found the bad speaker and replaced it and haven't had problems since.

I had this problem a few weeks ago. I re-routed the ground from the stereo to a better ground post and that cleared it up. Sounds like it could be a lot of issues...

I agree with Brad, it could be a lot of issues.

Lets start with the easy stuff:

1. Is this a new issue? What has changed since it started?
2. Ground- Make sure it is a good ground and is as close to the amp as possible.
3. Amp Placement- Is your amp in an environment where it is getting air to where it won't overheat?

After that, it can get tricky/expensive. If all of these things are good, I would recommend looking into a dual battery setup.

My stereo would cut out along with my Perfect Pass speed control when I ran my engine blower. I was guessing it was a faulty ground. I checked and tightened up all my ground fittings and that took care of it. When I upgrade to a new stereo and amp setup I think I'm going to have to go with a dual battery setup.
