Oh yeah, he hates wearing his hat normally and he always has to wear one. _________________ A little part of me dies inside every time I see an $80,000 Malibu Wakesetter pulling a tuber.
The Little Man celebrated his making the Regulators by lighting the lamp once and having 2 assists on the High School teams first 4 goals Monday night.
...and a little fun... Listen to his sister chuckling in back....
high school team? how is the high school team playing a week before june?
They run a 20 team Summer High School Varsity league.... They don't practice or anything like that, but they play. It will go into mid/late August.
We even put our JVers in a D mens league to keep them on the ice...(we have done this for the past while, but for the first time[to my knowledge], 2 other schools did it as well)
It is an easy way to keep them playing together, integrate the new guys and start getting the new lines settled in the off season. There is no substitute for ice time....
Not so cute or cool.... Heard these words again, which is becoming far too familiar to my ears.... "Dad, my stick is done..." There are drawbacks from your kid having a wicked slapshot....
That is 2 APX's and a NEXON N12 in 5 months.... To wrap that up in something that means something to the masses.... That is $700 in the garbage can....
Though the Sher-Wood may get covered under warranty....we've had it 28 days today...
I haven't used the N12's but I'm surprised it would be breaking there. I put a pretty good beating on my sticks (was using custom RM19s) and all the ones I've snapped have been lower/mid shaft. Haven't had any problems with the blades yet. I play center too, so the blades definitely get a beating on draws.
Would be interested to see his shooting mechanics.
I did watch that, it's hard to get much from one spin around (goofing around) slapshot Could be the lie of the stick, but my first thoughts are he may be almost hitting puck first, not intentionally (i'm sure he knows how to shoot properly) and impacting the stick directly with the puck. Try taking a bit more ice and loading up the stick more with a sweeping motion than going right at it. Probably knows this too, but an extra strip of tape along the bottom before taping it really helps keep the bottom from cracking.

Just curious what flex he is using as well?
The Sherwood is a 95. APX's were 87's. He does an extra strip on the bottom. I don think he could get the power on his shot, like he has, if he wasn't getting load, but hitting the puck first? Though that is not to say that doesn't happen on misses....
I don't know??? Would be interesting to keep an eye on? My theory, you take a ton of slapshots, you're going to be hard on sticks. He spends a chitload of time on the ice and works on his slapshot a ton. Because he doesn't pay for his sticks, being hard on them doesn't worry him. If he was paying for his sticks, bet his snap shot would be a lot better....
Sher-Wood is sending a replacement, so that's good news.
Off focus, but slapshot action shot...
Tried to go through and see if I could find some pics of him shooting a slapshot... Not a lot of flex there, though from the look of the puck, it could be releasing....

No pics, was in the penalty box for the game. But the LM's team beat the defending State Champs in their game tonight. GREAT GAME! He was a +2 and didn't allow a goal, great game at the blue line. Very proud Dad!
He did visit me once, solid 2 minutes of father/son time!
The Little One finished tryouts for the local top comp team for soccer as well, though she is a year young. No word, but can't imagine that she not only made it, but will be on their A team... We'll anxiously await their posting of #'s....
Here's my little buddy driving my jeep in the shop a couple of weeks ago.
As soon as he got in, he went for the wheel first, then wanted to put it in gear, and then went for the transfer case. I think he was going for 1st gear low, and hammer it!!
