The way he did it in the half rainbow is just attaching the pvc to a 2x6 and using brute force and leverege to pull down on it. After it was in the right position he braced it in place so that it would stay bent. If he took off the braces Im sure that it would spring back into place.
Another way i have heard of people bending pvc is using slight heat, if you heat up the pipe slightly then bend it and let it cool it will stay that way, but you have to be very carefull because if you heat up the pipe too much it will be completely screwed. _________________ Screw wakeskating in going back to straps (favorite quote from a wake vid) |

i have never done it but i think that if you slid another smaller peice of pvc tubing inside the larger then it would stay flush _________________ Screw wakeskating in going back to straps (favorite quote from a wake vid) |

If your talking about a bend on either end of the pipe in order to bring it down to the water line then the best way to do it is actually to heat the bottom side of the pvc where you want the bend. As you heat it pull down in order to get the amount of bend you want but be careful not to burn the pvc threw b/c it will make it weaker or possibly break. As for meeting two ends flush we pulled them as close as possible and used some epoxy resin to fill the gap and sanded it smooth.
At least this worked for us like a dream... |

I put a nice arch in mine by threading an old ski rope through it and tighting it till i got the arc i want. Then i sparked up the blow torch and from a distance running along the length for a while then taking an acetone soaked rag and rubbing it down (after it cools). Then i also left it on the side of my house for a few months in direct sun. It weakened the spring of the pipe alot. |

As far as joining the pvc pipes.
I have done it with a smaller peice of pvc, what you do is cut it about 6 inches long, and then cut down it's length and take a small slice out of it. This allows you to be able to jam (with pvc glue) it into each end of your rail and it acts like a coupler.
I have also tried with hte couplers that they sell at the hardware store, but I could not get it in all the way it was such a tight fit, I found that hte homemade couplers worked much better. |

For the coupler you just take the same pvc and cut about a half an inch out lenght wise. Compact the coupler youjust made, glue it and shove a piece of pvc on both ends. I like to use grey 3" electrical conduit. This bends easily with a ratchet strap and a few toggle bolts. Composite decking (trex or similar)is what is best and it is superflexible. About $29 for 5/4"x6"x16' _________________ Thats gonna leave a mark!! |

To get the pvc to join together you have to use a smaller piece of pvc between the other two...they actually do not make inside to inside couplers becuz i had a guy at home depot check them out...but the smaller piece inside will make the two flush if you do it right |

buy 1 size smaller PVC tube and put it in one piece, leave it hanging out the other side, and slide the piece you want to join onto the other end, contact cement works pretty good to hold them together, just rough up the edges that are touching and it should hold for a while |

your better off just getting trex, benderboard or anything like that and using that. its flexable, better for sliding on, and last longer. it wont shatter after being in the sun for a couple weeks |

to get a perment bend in a rail you'll need to brace the shape of the bend and slowly apply heat, pvc is touchy though the best way to apply it is NOT with a tourch, this will pin point to much heat try a comercial grade heat gun, used for melting glue. ti may never be exactly right but you'll get it close. to make a seem between pipes its not hard, if you have multipul pipes next to each other you can varry the lenghts so that the seems won't match up. you won't need to actually join pieces. you'll only need to get them close and sand the leading lip which should flaten out enough to slide over. boards are made no to catch edges so you really don't have to worry about the seems. |

@Krown 77 "i made a slider a few summers ago and used black ABS plumbing pipe,... "
Remember when you used to get those skid marks in your whitey's? Well, sliding on the black pvc will give your board the same streaky identity. Go white. _________________ GET YOUR DAILY DOSE!

The best way to bend PVC is to use a heating blanket. Greenlee makes a blanket for electricians to bend PVC pipe for underground electrical pipes. You just have to be careful not to get it to hot cause it will collapse the pipe. |
