I need to find a photography forum so I can learn more of the settings on my camera, and what does what for which type of picture.

I know a good shot when I see it. But it's capturing that shot with what I have. I went and got the "nifty fifty" 50mm f1.8 that Joe recommended. I can see it's benefits in bright color and fast speed. The real test will be using it while trying to photograph Rock Crawlers at high speed.

That's why I need to find a good photography forum so I can ask questions about things. No offense, this is good info, but not too much to read to teach. If I ask a question, it will get answered. But many times I don't know the question, not to mention the answer.

So Joe, Chavez, Scott, D88, etc those of you who take pride in their photography, do you have a place you go and read what others are doing to learn?

Anyone have a recommendation for an entry level DSLR? I am looking for something that will take good HD video for wakeboarding. The rest I don't need anything too fancy.

I hear there are a bunch of new DSLRs coming out this year and video is going to take a leap forward. Maybe I should wait?

Wakebrad, i know this doesn't help but you JUST missed a deal on 1saleaday.com for a nikon d3100 w/ a kit lens for 300 (if i remember correctly). dslrs pop up on that site from time to time so you might want to keep an eye out.

damn, that's the one I was leaning towards too. So you don't expect a new entry level DSLR this year that's worth waiting for?

I heard a rumor that the D3200 is supposed to be announced on Friday which would further lower the price on the 3100. I think I'm going to wait and see what happens.

since the thread was hijacked anyway..

I want to upgrade my D80 to something else. Looked into dumping all my nikon stuff for a Canon 7D....but now think just buy a body like the D7000 and keep all my nikon stuff..

I want to get video on my DSLR... D7000? Or???

will you be shooting wake with it? if you stick w/ nikon, the d7000 is pretty cool w/ the autofocus and all but it only shoots 1080p @24fps or 720p @30fps. the 7d is cool but why not consider the 60d? pretty similar to the 7d (better weather seal and faster frame rate (sequence pics)), but the 60d's cool for long angle shots and all w/ the swivel lcd. both shoot 1080p @30fps and 720p @60fps. the 60d is also about half the price of the 7d.

I will be shooting some wake but also just family stuff.. I do need it for product images on boardstop etc so not just video.

having the flash, lens, and everything nikon makes me think a cheaper option would just be stay with nikon.

I did find a 7000 locally for 900 bucks just the body.
