hi Guys,

I like to think of myself as fairly athletic.
I'm in the gym 3-5 times a week, through out the whole year, so im
in decent shape.

I get behind the boat and after 5 mins , I can barely hold the rope hahaha.

What exercises can i concentrate on at the gym to improve what ever muscles it is Im using?!?

It's a little tricky and you won't be able to mimic wakeboarding exactly, but the best thing I did was just to do my normal routine with wakeboarding in mind.

What's your routine like now? As an example, If you're doing something with a bar imagine it's the handle and grip it the same way you would wakeboarding (where it applies, don't put yourself in to bad form or in danger of hurting yourself). Maybe if you're doing pull-downs, use a narrower grip.

Other than that all you can really do is apply new things to your workouts. A strong core is helpful so have a solid ab routine. Plyometrics and cardio are hugely important in wakeboarding as well. Any way to add that in (if you're not doing it already)?

I am a huge proponent of cardio. Do all types of exercises; rowing, biking, treadmill, elliptical. This will improve your body's ability to carry oxygen to the muscles, and hopefully you won't get tired as quickly. You may want to do a few shoulder exercises and upper back. i.e. pulldowns or pullups/chinups. shoulder press or dumbbell raises. I would do higher reps and less weight so you are building more muscular endurance which should help you ride longer.
Also, like GnarShredd, mentioned work on your core. You may want to do squats or leg press if you aren't comfortable with squats. These exercises help to train the large muscle groups in the legs.

Do you have a routine that you are currently following?
