Been trying to get more consistent jumps heelside, I always seem to be out of control and way crooked in the air. I really need to work on my form, standing at the wake, both hands on the handle and holding my egde. I am going to try and get some video, I am pretty sure I let off edge and before the lip and that is why I am getting all out of whack.

Any comments appreciated.

What's happening in the last pick is during your edge to the wake all your weight is on your back foot. So when you stand tall for the wake your front foot pushes into the wake easier since it's not carrying any of the load from the progressive edge.

At least I'm pretty sure that's what happens to me when that happens. Very hard to tell anything about your air time without seeing your edge into the wake. That's the important part. Need video.

well, i am no high level wakeboarder but i have good air-awareness from years and years of skate- and snowboarding. It seems to me you are not getting the required pop off the wake. that could most definitely mean you are letting off your edge! both feet will pop off the wake if you hold your edge and will give you a correctly balanced platform to style your tricks from. your back foot will follow!
In skateboarding, we would call your form "mob"..

To me it feels like I get a good cut, mostly I seem to squat way down (problem 1) and then when I get to the wake I probably let off and stand up. I think the wake then just kind of kicks me into those weird positions. I end up leaning forward a lot, some times I even start rotating and fall hard to one side.

I feel like I need to learn all over how to hit the wake instead. I watch Detention 2012 and some other instructional videos, and all the riders look very collected and don't have a lot of body movement.

I'll get a video this weekend.

Well it's definitely something to do with your balance on the board when you pop off the wake. You need even pressure on both feet.

My suggestion is to take it back from w2w and just do single wake jumps. Go for height. Carve out about 5 feet or even less. then lean back against the rope and turn the board slightly. just make yourself a slow small edge to the wake and hold it through. If done properly you might even w2w without meaning to do it. I think you're focussing too much on speed to get across and that can be a little unsettling going too fast.

I do notice on my toeside I can stand up more and get a real nice pop, but I don't go wake to wake on that side yet unless I am doing my 180 which is pretty consistent.

Like your suggestion, I am going to get back to basics and figure out what is wrong and improve that.

your looking down in everyone of those shots
its just like riding a motorcycle. your body will follow your eyes
look at the shore and youll find yourself way more in control and alot more consistant. and if you do get sketchy, haveing your eyes up will save you.

Well, rode 3 times this weekend, got a much better feel of doing things the right way. Thursday all I did was focus on getting set up, progressive edge, good form. Wasn't going W2W, but close.

Saturday I was going a little bigger still trying to keep my form while holding that edge.

Sunday morning I had a real good set, clearing the second wake, much less of that out of control feeling, only let go of the handle a few times. Worked on my HD 180, still slipping out on that one. Ollie 180's on each side are pretty solid, still working on the oiile Blind 180.

Of course I forgot my camera every time!

Weather stunk in Indiana this weekend, only rode Friday. Practiced getting up out of the water in switch stance position, getting a lot easier to ride that way in the last few weeks. Practiced surfing in switch stance and my ollies and ollie 180's.

In my normal HS stance I was getting much more consistent W2W, one I felt like I has higher than I had ever been before. I was kind of shocked and ate it on the landing, lol.

I did successfully land my first HS 180, slipped out 2 other times on that one. My wife was filming with the camcorder, but she had the record messed up, so all the video was of me falling and the boat coming back to get me. We'll work on that this weekend...

Kind of struggling with my HS 180's today. Yesterday was the first time I landed 2 clean out of 5. Today I attempted about 15 and landed 2. I am slipping out a lot of the time from not rotating enough. A few times I got the board around and landed, then the rope got yanked out of my hand while I was edging away. Might go back to 1 wake jumps and the HS 180. I can Ollie 180 no problem both HS and switch HS.
