Nikon AF-S 70-200mm f/2.8G ED VR II

Anyone shoot with this? Or similar?

Not asking about the lens in general...just concerned about the fixed apperature.

With only ISO and shutter speed adjustments will the light be too much with the bright sun and reflection of the water?

My only experience with this lens is either inside or in low(er) lighting situations.

I would be renting this lens...but still don't want to rent it and find out it is completely wrong for the job after the first exposure.

That's the best lens to use for wake photography. If you find that it's too bright out just stop down the aperture to f4 or f5.6 or whatever.

it is a fixed aperture lens, but just because it's fixed, doesn't mean you can't adjust. it just means it doesn't automatically adjusts for you when you zoom in.

A good way to think about it is that when a company puts f/2.8 or whatever they are basically saying the lowest you can go depending on how bright it is and what kinda look your going for whether you want your shot to have a greater depth of field or not.
