Looking pretty good. Aluminum extrusion is a little different. I've not seen that used before, but seems like a pretty clever idea.

Well the price was right..... It will allow me to mount the relay, fuses, distribution block, etc etc.
Just got my WS-420 today.
Should be getting the in-boat speakers this weekend. Then its just wiring time.

I like the aluminum extrusion idea quite a bit. Should look nice when loaded up, and is a bit different than the "amp in MDF box or on MDF board" amp racks that most people seem to be doing.
One thing on the lexan on the bottom of the sub box. I suspect that you may find that moisture gets captured between the lexan and the box. If you can find a way of sealing the edges, that would help, but I am not certain how you would do that with the carpet.

Amps mounted.
Picked up the distribution blocks yesterday along with a bunch of power wire. So that is next.

Oh yeah, but i got all 3 for 600.00 marine certified. I had a hard time justifying 900 for one amp.....

That's coming along nicely. I like the distribution block you chose. Looks like you located your 420 right where I put my eq.

thanks man.
you know I went to 3-4 different stores looking for a distribution block I liked and most people wanted 25-40 for one WITHOUT fuses! I got the fuse able one for 23 and the non for 10, from a store that used to be notorious for being overpriced. So I found my supply shop.
I'm ok with the 420 location; I may end up flipping it over. The way the offsets on the mounts are would give me more room to adj the settings and see which I'm actually adjusting. We'll see.

ryan351w, Looks like you're making some good progress. Are you definitely not wanting the EQ nearer the helm? How are you going to mange the tower/in-boat volume quickly?
Do you have an isolator switch between the battery and your main power supply to your amps? If you leave the set up for more than a few weeks at a time you will want this in place to avoid any dead batts.

Brit Rider, Thanks.
The eq is in the exact spot the old radio was.... Its right by the left knee of the driver.
No I don't, but the boat doesn't sit unused for longer than 1-2days maybe once the season starts. And I trailer everywhere I go; so even if I don't get out after a while I can easily take out the batt, or connect to a trickle charger.

Alright, pretty much done.
All I've got left is to drill a couple holes in the tower for the wires.

So I'm lost on what the Ford style relay is for. It looks as if you have the coil hooked up, but only one side of the contacts.

core-rider, I'm using the relay to cut off power between the boat batt and the radio batt when the boat isn't running. So when the key is in the RUN position the relay closes and allows current to pass through to the 2nd batt. That one wire is the trigger wire from the key to close the circuit.

Okay, so your own DIY isolator. Good idea!

I've gotten a lot of my stuff from HiFi Sound Connection online...really good pricing and quick delivery.

Bead of clear exterior silicon around the box where the lexan meets up. Use a butter knife or similar to remove excess silicon once the lexan is in place. Make sure to silicon under the screw holes so the screws are sealed as well.
