I am looking for a really large screen for my laptop.

I have a 22" screen now. Does anyone use a 32-42 inch screen? Anyone use a LCD TV? Is a 42 way to big for a monitor?

I just get so many things going on my screens that I really want some space to lay stuff out when I am working on things.

I wouldn't say there's any reason for you to use a TV as a monitor. The maximum resolution that TVs will display is 1920x1080, and most entry level widescreen computer monitors will display that nowadays.

Here's a few options from the Dell website-

24" Widescreen http://accessories.us.dell.com/sna/products/Displays/productdetail.aspx?c=us&l=en&s=dhs&cs=19&sku=320-1070
1920x1080
$200

24" Widescreen http://accessories.us.dell.com/sna/products/Displays/productdetail.aspx?c=us&l=en&s=dhs&cs=19&sku=320-8277
1920x1200
$550

27" Widescreen http://accessories.us.dell.com/sna/products/Displays/productdetail.aspx?c=us&l=en&s=dhs&cs=19&sku=U27113Y
2560x1400
$1100

If possible, you might consider heading into a store and checking out some of the larger monitors. I'm not sure which stores (if any) carry the nicer Dell monitors in your area, but one idea is to put on a biohazard suit and head into an Apple store and check out their 27" widescreen Cinema Display. It will give you an idea of how much real estate you have to work with when using a monitor this size.

I'm using an HP2710m on my desk now. (along with 3 18" UltraSharps)

It's 1920x1080 though. Bossman has a 27 iMac at home @ 2560x1440 and it is the sh*t.

If the damn 2500+ res monitors weren't $800+ I'd have gotten that instead.

I am VERY happy with the 2710m though. Very easy on the eyes. Paid under $300 for it direct from HP.

No it's my desktop. I have 4 right now. - 3 in portrait 1024x1280 and the big 27 in landscape at 1920x1080

There are ways to do multi-monitor off a lapper...

flixmaster, I forgot to mention, that my monitors are mounted (clamped) to the desk using MonoPrice mounts. They were about $17 each and do the job perfectly.

First you need to determine if your laptop can output that resolution. No sense spending the money on a monitor that is capable of displaying _____ resolution, if you can't send the signal to it at that resolution.

Like buying an HD TV, but then only getting SD cable.

I'm super jealous of all of you. I'm stuck with one monitor at my job and it makes everything 100x more difficult/time consuming.
