50 hours or so a year is not bad. Most people estimate about 100 hours per year so that's actually pretty low. NADA lists this at average retail $21,570 and that's without options.

I saw this boat sitting on the FSBO lot on base last week. Not bad looking.

thats the one.... what kind of hours are these boats known to be reliable up to. I understand a lot of factors contribute to this but assuming the motor is well maintained.

Hours look about right, I'd say normal use is probably around 50 hours/year. You would think it would be higher, but it doesn't seem to be. As far as how long boats last, it depends on maintenance, but the Nautique 2001 series that were built in the 80s have easily gone into the 2,000 range. You won't find boats made in 2002 that weren't abused in that range, so you don't know for sure, but I would expect the engine to last a long time. That is unless it's been used for any period of time in saltwater, which I would expect to cut the hours in half.

I'm really bad with Malibu models, so I couldn't tell you about that specific boat.

Bottom line is, on your check-list of potential problems, you can mark off hours, because that's right in range.

My nautique has approx 2600 hours on it. nautique from 2001. still runs solid. no real issues.

just maintain them and it is no worries.
