So I was thinking of making a winch on the bottom of a lawn mower. I would bolt a car wheel to the blade of the lawnmower as the spool. I was just wondering if you guys thought this would work or if there are any problems.

At the very least, the rope would be difficult to manage. Nobody has yet been able to make a vertical-shaft motor work for a winch so I know there are plenty of problems with that type of a setup. If they did work, there would be more out there, vertical-shaft motors are generally cheaper than horizontal.
Unless it's a good-sized motor, it probably won't have enough torque to support spinning-up the weight of a car wheel (let alone pulling a rider). |

it may work, the rope will always pile on the bottom of the spool but this occurs on all winches anyway when the rider approaches from an extreme angle the entire ride, I would suggest you use a centrifugal clutch or TAV so the engine can idle without pulling in the line _________________ ☆PHOENIX WINCH☆
