Do you have a picture of you in the air rather than just taking off? It does look like your knees are bent quite a bit so it seems like you should stand taller at the wake.

for sure you need to stand tall at the wake. at the top of the wake your knees should be alot closer to locked out. your still at a 90* bend.

go check out www.waketrix.com for tips. pay attention to knee angle, handle location, and how they are still cutting threw the wake.

You definately need to edge all the way through the wake and straighten those knees. Hang in there and since you don't have any video, watch other poeples videos and check out the tips they get. I found that most people having trouble with the W2W were doing the same thing I was.

I agree you arent standing tall enough. Don't think of it as jumping. Think of it like wanting to slam your feet down through the water. You mentioned you have a hard time pressing (standing tall) while not flattening out before you hit the wake. It *is* possible to do them both at the same time it will just feel different once you get in the air.

My advice is to take a much smaller cut but commit fully - then adjust to how it feels in the air. Then when it feels like you're edging even through the wake AND standing tall start cutting out a little further and give yourself some more runway before hitting that jump.

Before you know it you'll be flying high my man. Also it looks like the driver might be turning slightly. Get them to drive perfectly straight so you have even wakes on both sides. It will make w2w jumps more natural (read 'easier').

I agree you should definitely be standing taller as you hit the lip of the wake

I'm sorry to bump this thread but I didn't want to start a new one for about the same questions.

My first problem: When getting up the wake you need to stand tall. But when I try to do this, it feels like I'm pushing my board under water. Is this the normal feeling I should get?

Second problem: When trying to stand tall, I'm always losing my edge trough the wake. I'm not having any problems keeping my edge trough the wake when not standing tall and just locking my knees. But when I try to stand tall I seem to flatten off to early..

Any tips on how to solve these problems? Smile

Well as someone who has finally cracked the w2w and is landing safely in the flats - whoohooo! This is what I do, edge out on your toeside - not necessarily too far - set yourself up, so handle nice and low into your lead hip, upper body up straight, shoulders back. Let the boat start to pull you back in, get onto your progressive edge, really lean and load the line, then as you hit the wake stand tall, push down with the handle (you'll be surprised how much difference this actually makes), but you need to keep that edge and not flatten out. Also try not to let youself get pulled forward. It's definitely a 'push down' rather than a standing up motion.

It's something that really takes practice, playing with technique. It's not about how far you cut out and coming in at a rate of knots. I can clear the wake and get good pop by only going out a couple of meters.

Also play with your line length, this proves it's about technique not speed and distance. I generally ride at 65, have done the shortening the line, then whacked it out to 75 - straight over, no problems.

Chocoholic- great advice there.

Just from the picture, it looks like you are not taking a progressive edge. start just outside the spray of the boat. Now edge on your heels harder and harder until the top of the wake.

From the photo it appears you are setting your board towards the wake and not edging away from the boat any harder.

Remember, the key here is line tension and form, not speed.
