Hello! So I'm in the process of turning an 89 Sport Nautique into a wake specific boat. The first thing I want to address is its lack of a tower...

I have searched on here and other forums and looked at 50 different towers and cant seem to make up my mind. What do you guys think will look the best, perform the best and last the longest on this boat?

I don't want to sound like money isn't an issue because it definitely is but I am willing to spend more for a "better" tower.

It seems a lot of you guys are a fan of the diy pro. That's definitely in my top five.

Thanks in advance. I'm so indecisive...

FCT II/New Dimensions of course! Best looking, the original and therefore also best resale value with a Nautique.

When you say DIY Pro do you mean the DIY Wake tower?

If so that's a decent, solid tower but it is entry level. I'm also not sure it fits your boat without a bit of modding (your bow is very skinny, so you'll want to measure it and check the area in front of your bow is at least 74").

If you want something "better", as in more factory look then you won't go wrong with a New Dimensions Tower, as FlyZone CR suggests.

Only trade off I suppose you need to make is how much you want to spend on a 22 year old boat. a factory tower always holds the best retail but it isn't likely to be a deal breaker on a boat of this age so I'd be tempted to go down the DIYWake route.

Yes, the diy wake. I'll be sure to make all the necessary measurements before I buy anything. In your personal opinion, astetically how do you think it would look?

You bring up a very good point. This thing is 22 years old. It's going to be hard to justify spending $1700+ on a premium tower when there are other practical options for 11 or 12... I get carried away sometimes so thanks for getting me back in check.

The resale value isn't so much of a big deal to me right now. I plan on doing a lot to this thing over time and know going in that I won't be able to get back what money I put into it. However I will get a lot of enjoyment out of it so to me it's well worth it.

Thanks for the quick responses! There is a lot of great info on here!

What are your thoughts on this tower?

Seems decent. Price is reasonable and in my opinion looks alright...

Thanks!

If you can find an old official FCT I would check into that. Look into like the '03 Flight Control Tower by Nautique. That is the classic tower by Nautique. I've heard of people getting them for older boats, but I'm not sure how. It's been a while since we've had the discussion, but you may be able to search for threads on how people used to do it.

Here's one mounted on an 80s 2001:

NKCrider, I do like the lines of that tower on your boat alot. Though I'd argue its not the easiest tower to install.... I used to sell them and ran into some issues.

the only issue we had was we drilled 2 extra holes cuz we didnt do a "soft" install to get the general area of holes. atleast they are hidden behind the horizontal brace on each side Laughing

but yer right, she does look damn good Cool

My vote would be for the Monster Tower MT1 in black. There are lots of customer pictures on their website with boats like yours and they look really good with the black tower matching the black windshield frame. And they are listed at $999, so not terribly expensive.
