hey guys, new to the website and this is my first season of wakeboarding. The website has already helped out a lot, but i have a few questions.

when i start a butterslide the rope seems to slack up a lot and i have to pull the rope to my chest to stay up. So the slide doesnt last very long. do i need to lean back more? bend at the knees more?

One more thing, ollies, i havent tried one yet but i watched a few videos on youtube, only one was instructional though, is it like an ollie on a skateboard? or is it different?

thanks for the help!

Not sure why the rope is getting slack unless you're pulling the handle in when you move it in to position for the slide. It should be an easy movement, not a quick one. Bend your knees pretty good (like you're half-way sitting in a chair).

As far as ollies go, it's very similar to the motion of a skateboard. Don't try to jump with both feet. Jump off of your back foot while lifting your front. This digs the tail of the board in to the water, causing you to go up. (did that make sense? It's friday afternoon and I'm a little burnt-out from a long week, haha)

and when doing ollies it helps to carve out side the wake, this builds speed and rope tension, so when ollie-ing? carve out on your heel side edge get some speed and level off bring your wheight slightly forward, then gain some momentum leaning back and push off the tail of the board while bringing the nose up.

heres a video of that ollie, its not great, but gives the general idea.

With the sliding, you don't want to yank the rope backwwards at any time, or any time whilst riding in fact. Bend your knees and lean back so you're almost resting on the line. You just build up the time bit by bit until you feel comfortable with it.

Ollies are great fun. One thing that has helped me is that on the rotation remember to turn your head round to your back shoulder, helps keep the balance. Watch the front edge! I had numerous epic face plants when learning to ollie lol.

Hey guys, I was trying to work on my slides this weekend and I just can't seem to get them down without doing what I did in this video below or sliding out on my back. Let me know. Video is pretty funny by the way.

probably dont want to try it in the wake, (imo) and not while turning, try carving out on your heels, then put more wheight on your heels as you bring your wheight more even over each foot and keep your knees slightly bent with the handle tucked in a tiny bit, dont want your arms exteded though, and once you do do the actual slide kinda just keep your toes up and hold a slight lean back. another reason im saying to go outside the wake and do it is it will be a smoother slower transition to the slide, but when going back you dont really try to move the board straight, you let the boat pull you striaght.

eppeokst, Bend your knees and get over your heels a bit more. You can see that your shoulders come forward slightly before you fall. Keep both hands on the handle and keep it a little lower too.

LOL definitely DON'T do it whilst the boat is turning. Your knees are far too straight, you need a good bend in them, take it low and stick your weight on your heels and lean back on that line.

Slow the boat down more if you need to. There's no issues with doing it behind the boat, it's easier to do it here to begin with.

Pretty funny.

I would slow the boat down to 14-15 and just move the handle and go into the slide stay a few secs then go back keep doing that till you feel comfortable then raise the speed. Don't look down look at the boat.
