I went winching at a friend's rail park over the weekend and 2 out of 3 of his rails simply have wood for a surface (no trex or other material to help slide).

I was amazed to find out that they slid fine and there were no hangups at all. I never even really considered to just use wod and leave it as is but apparently it works just fine!

Other than durability, is there any major downside to just using wood as a sliding surface on temporary rails?

the main problem is that there are seams, and wood warps so you can get alot of places where the wood will warp and you could catche between seams and eat it
