I love the internet. I ordered a MT1 from waterskis.com and a set of KMT6s from amazon on Monday, tower got here on Thursday and I installed it after work. KMTs got here yesterday and I just finished installing them this morning. TIME TO GO TO THE LAKE!

Yeah, I'm using a (very) old Rockford Fosgate Punch 250a that I had in my first car back in high school 15 years ago. It was sitting in my closet collecting dust so I figure I'll use it until it corrodes away and then buy a marine amp. I thought the same thing about my head unit (also a very old one from my first car) and it's going on it's 2nd season in the boat with no signs of corrosion.

The amp is a punch 250a which means it is 125x2 (RMS) at 2ohms or 62.5x2 (RMS) at 4 ohms. The KMT6s are 4 ohm.

I took the tower speaker wires out the side of the hull and filled the hole with 5200. I ran it into the tower with 1/4" rubber grommets.

I couldn't see a way to get from the legs to the cross bar without going outside the tower, so I did that... again 1/4" grommets.

Here's a closer picture of the KMTs on the tower with the bimini up. The bimini is home made. I bought an old bimini frame off craigslist for $5 and some sunbrella fabric off ebay for around $20. I suck at sewing so it's not perfectly taut all over the place, but it works.

The thing plugged into the cigarette lighter is a solar trickle charger.

And the view from the front of the boat... ewww, dirty seats.

The KMT6 is actually a 3 ohm speaker so you're probably getting somewhere in the middle 80-90 watts per channel. Nice job on the install, looks good.

Cool, did not know that.

I currently have my amp set to full with no frequency filtering... do you think I should turn on the high pass and just step the frequency cutoff to like 50hz? They sound like they are putting out some bass, but I'm not sure if they are supposed to.

That's probably a pretty good fit. They are 3 ohms like browneye said and they like about 150W RMS. Whenever you decide to change out the amp, finding something that puts out the 150W RMS will be a good fit. The Kicker ZX450.2 is a good fit.

I'd say you probably do want to go high pass and adjust the frequency to minimize the low bass and let them do some mid bass and above. Do you have a sub?

The wiring looks good. Seems nice and clean to me.

Does look good . I have my KMT6's runnin high pass from 125 up . They are plenty loud and i always get complimented on how clean they sound . We do have a sub though , but tower speakers are really not ment for bass either so cross em over

I went ahead and set it for 50hz. If I ever add a sub in the future I will move it to 125hz, but for now I need something that will produce those sounds.

I didnt realize stereo equipment was so complicated. I just hooked my amp up and turned the volume up. Whats the advantages of finely tuning the amp, i have 4 alpine type s 6.5" speakers powered by a sony xplod 1000w peak 4 channel amp

Some speakers are not meant to play certain frequencies... If you fine tune your amp to only let the frequencies through that are meant to be played you will be able to turn your speakers up louder without a) distorting the sound and b) possibly blowing them.
