|
|
I want to use 2 Tsunami pumps. 1 for fill and 1 for drain but using the same lines. I attached an awesome paint drawing to better explain my thinking.
I will use manual PVC ball valves and use one pump at a time, plumbed in reverse directions and also to close the lines to prevent my sac from draining after is is full.
The fill pump will be in the bilge below water line to prime. The drain pump will be able to prime from the full ballast sac.
I think it should work. I want to use aerator pumps for speed, lower amperage, cheaper.
What am I missing? [/img] |

Just in case anyone was curious, yes it does work. It works really well. I'm pretty surprised. My only problem was getting it to drain. I decided to flip my sacs so the hoses were on the bottom of the sac and that was all it took. |

Any other tips? How well did it work? AND could you do this with 2-sacs?? Thanks Jet _________________ Andrew"Jet"Mitchell

Jet -
I did it exactly like my paint drawing. I am actually using it to fill 2 bow sacs. It takes about 10 minutes to fill. I put the ball valves in so my pumps wouldn't be pumping in a loop. It does kind of suck to manually open and close them but it works for now.
Now that I have my thru-hull in and hoses plumbed I will add a few more pumps. I will keep my fill pumps in the bilge and add drain pumps directly to my sacs.
Like I mentioned before, turning the sacs so the holes are on the bottom was all I needed to do to prime the Drain Pump.
This method got me started for cheap using 2 $29 pumps from Wakemakers.com and it works perfect so I'm happy. Here is a pic of last weekend. |

I haven't done anything yet. It's wrapped for the winter. I won't break it out till March. I'll update then. Thanks for checking. I didn't install overflows for this quick job. I just watch them fill then shut it off. When I do the complete install I will have overflows, vents and 2 more pumps for draining. This was super easy to get my ballast system started though. |
