Hey. I've been boarding 3 summers now, still having difficulty riding switch foot. For me, goofy foot is Right leg back. Is it just practice practice practice???

Confused

Yep, just keep forcing yourself to do it and you'll get better. I found that I could be very lazy with handle positioning when i ride normal but I had to really focus on where I kept the handle when riding switch. But as long as I was conscious of where I was holding the handle while switch, it was easier.

Right foot back is regular, left foot back is goofy. Goofy doesnt mean riding switch, it is just the name of the stance.

Okay, its hard to force because you feel so awkward and I want to hit the wakes hard. But, I gotta do it. Thanks for the tip.

It's all about practice, it gets easier the more you do it. Try coming up regular and switching to goofy. There are some great drills to do which help, riding just inside the wake, ride one way to the side - switch - ride back - switch and so on.

Try to build up so that you ride half your set one way and half the other.

Riding switch after getting used to riding your normal foot forward is like learning how to ride again. I have found, since I ride goofy, that my right hand which is usually my lead hand, still wants to take control when im riding switch. Then everything about it feels new anyway...putting the time in switch is the only way to feel comfortable with it. Not the easiest thing to do...especially when riding normal is much less frustrating...lol. But when you started...riding normal was pretty close to the same as riding switch is now.

learning to ride switch actually comes faster than most people think. The reason you have the impression that it's taking a long time to get it is because you rarely do switch. Sure you might try it every time you go out but for how long? You probably ride switch for less than a minute each set and then quit because it feels weird.

I just started focusing on switch this year and I'm already doing w2w 180's switch (although the TS switch is fugly). I guess what I'm trying to say is ride at *least* half your sets switch and in a few weeks (if you get out 2-3 times per week) you'll be feeling different about switch.

Oh yeah and even though it feels weird, try some small wake jumps while switch. You'll get things figured out faster if you force yourself a little out of your comfort zone (emphasis on little).

Great tips guys. I am forcing myself to switch for half my runs. Problem is, in MN you only get so many days to enjoy riding.

Thanks!

Yeah, I'm from MN and the weekends are almost always windy where I live so I can only wakeboard behind a jetski during the week (lake is nice and calm), but when the weekend comes, it's windy or stormy lol. I barely get to wakeboard behind our boat, which sucks Sad.
