has anyone made a ballast pump

I was wondering if anyone has made a pump to fill there fat sacs with? Or is easier just to buy one.

I guess I should have ask the question, can someone tell me how to make a pump? Can you make one with a bilge pump or another type of pump? I was hoping not to spend 100.00 on one?

You can make one using an aerator pump, some fittings and hose. You can make one yourself for around $60-70, o maybe a little less depending on pump cost, etc.

Look at something like the Attwood Tsunami type aerator pump. The higher GPH the more they will cost. You'll want to rig up a cigarette lighter type power connection. The fittings you need are all basic plumbing fittings you can find at your local big box store.

It looks like wally world has them. I need to go there tonight so I will take a look at them. Plus it looks like it will be pretty simple to put together.

Walmart used to sell atwood 750 aerators, then they sold tsunami 800's, but lately I cant find any of them. They used to be between 25 and 30 bucks. All you need is a short length of hose and possibly a water bed fitting and you're all set. I prefer alligator clips as opposed to the cigarette lighter adapter though. Much more voltage from a direct connection to the battery.

not on my old ass PS205. the thin gauge wire leading up to the cig lighter adapter on the dash cant support the current draw from the 1100 GPH pump im using. The pump is noticeably slower, and the wiring gets extremely hot. Im sure newer boats probably anticipated accessories that draw more amps, but I assure you that in my boat, the difference is not negligible.
