Put $300.00 down on a 2006 Moomba Mobius. They were asking 19,900 and it had everything I wanted. Thought it was a good deal. Don't have pics of it just yet. The only thing that was concerning is when I looked the boat up on NADA I put all the things listed on the boat and it put the price up a bit from what they were asking so thought really good deal. When I called my bank they said they would only loan me 16,000 on the boat. So is NADA wrong or my bank? Doesn't matter to me either way. I just thought the price was good on the boat but after talking to bank now I don't know.

Banks dont like to lend money on depreciating assets they dont know anything about. They feel better if you have your money in it . NADA is only their opinion of value.

Looks like a pretty decent deal for that boat. Lending has really tightened up over the past few years, and a lot of banks are looking for much larger downpayments than they had in the past, especially on recreational purchases. Did the bank indicate why they would only loan you $16,000? I suspect that they likely have a 20% minimum downpayment requirement.

I've not had the best luck with the NADA website for calculating boat values. They seem to vary quite a bit from actual selling prices in a lot of cases.

When you look it up on NADA keep in mind that standard features are already included in the value. For example if the boat came with a tower standard you don't check that box when you look up the value.

Maybe that is where I messed up is with adding the stuff that was stock on the boat. But ok. I have looked online and haven't found a better deal from what I can see. I mean like said here by Stand Killa:

He paid that for a 03 Mobius LSV. So I was shocked. I've seen 2006 Mobius LSV on onlyinboard.com for up to 28,000. I'm going ahead with the boat. I think it is a good deal. My father-n-law says that a good deal is all in your head. So as long as you are happy that is all that matters.

Hope, not to offend you but you need to come out of your pocket more than $300 down. It is a great deal IF the boat has reasonable hours and in good to excellent condition.

I already got the boat now. I only had to put 300 down. That was all the dealership wanted for them to hold the boat for me. It wasn't that I was being a tight ass.

$300 door is more than enough down on a $20k boat as a deposit. When buying a home for $140,000 around here you don't have to put more than $1k down.

walb0244, any pics?

If that's an 06 LSV then it's a smoking deal. You generally don't see the 06 and newer LSVs for less than $30k. I'm betting it's an Outback V for that price, and still a good price on that one too.

Around here we have to put 10% down and to get a reasonable house is around 250,000. Alberta real estate is crazy atm.
