(excuse the pics, they were shot through net or glass)

So The Little Man(13 y/o) hit the ice for the first time with the JV hockey team last night. Though I was a bit worried about how he would do with the age/talent jump(adult Summer Hockey), he performed like a champ.... In fact, I think he was minimum top half of the players on the ice....both teams.

It was fun to watch him try to clear 30-40 year old men from in front of the net.... The Little Man is big....but he may need to work on his strength a bit.

All in all, a BIG SUCCESS night.... It is a special moment in a father's life when he gets to watch a child excel, especially when that involves wearing the Orange & Black.....

Plus, where we would be if we went a full week without me braging about my offspring.... Wink

My buddies just convinced me to join their hockey team.
It didn't take much - they just stroked my ego a bit about my skill level back in tha day....

Friday night hockey here I come!
I have not played in years should be interesting.
Only prob - these guys are expecting the same Jay that played a few years ago I hope I don't let them down too much...LOL...

Wife is going to love this one.... I'll tell her tonight during the Bruins game.....

I feel like a kid again and I haven't even played yet.... wohooo!!!!

So they play mens league teams as warm ups for the high school season? I haven't heard of that before, but I know in our summer league a couple years back one of the junior teams would play in the loop for off-season conditioning.

And I definitely live in Canada... I was walking the dogs today and a couple doors down there was hockey equipment airing out on the front lawn. Laughing

You want stink????
I just broke my stuff out after 8+ years of sitting in the hockey bag in the basement.
gross to say the least.... I threw some socks out - at least I thought they were socks....LOL...

Wife was worried - she used to come to my hour back in tha day when we were dating so she knows how aggressive I can get.

I found out I can still skate and I didn't kill myself so that's good.
I'm right below some of the top guys just like my buddy said I would be and in a few weeks expect to be one of the more dominant players on the ice. I was never a great Hockey player (late start) so that's not sayn much about the league but it's good to know you can hit the ice after years of not playn and just have some rust to work off..

Didn't score anything but made lots of assists - and got some kind words from the guys I joined up with.
Apparently they had a few guys come and go before me that didn't like to pass....

So the Little Man's Facebook post last night after the game....

"see this M on your jersey? That means something, you're a part of a bigger club now, you're a team, it's not a one man thing anymore" That stuck.

I find it a amazing, as well as a bit amusing, when kids start figuring things out.... Cool to watch, not just sports....but life.

So the Summer Season playoffs have started..... It has been a great season and a good learning experience for the LM. It is good to be on the ice with guys that push you skill wise.... Not only the adults in the league, but some of the high school kids that are playing on the JV team....

Though we sign up for his last season of "Little League" rec hockey as a Bantam tomorrow....he will play with the High School this Fall as well. It is fun on the old man's wallet....(that and equipment, which most of which has been replaced in the past few months)....

They lost their second playoff game last night and now need to come through the losers bracket to get the the championship game, the LM appears excited...(again, stealing his FB posts... Laughing )

"This is so much bigger than what i thought it would be when i first stepped on the ice with this team, and i love every moment of it. Good job tonight guys"

It has been a while since the LM has been so invigorated the game....he appears to have a new found passion for the ice, which shows in his attendance in drop in and stick and puck.....

'member this kid....

Completely agree. I owe my career to hockey. The personal and professional contacts I have made from hockey have been invaluable.

I loved the Graf picture. Compelled me to post this one.

These are my HS skates. I traded them a few years after HS and ended up trading the same friend 10 years later to get them back.

And no matter what I do, I still can't post a normal size picture in this forum. Do an auto size already flixmaster.

Well, he is 15 now and is ready to reek havoc..... Laughing

I cannot believe that it has been 2 years since he pulled a M over his pads.... Time flies by as you age I guess.... Had to search out this thread after we returned home from the first game of the Summer Season tonight....

Three pics that SUCK... But I was in the penalty box(assume they wanted me where I could say hello to the boy, he led the team in PM last season), so getting good shots is a crap-shoot at best.... But updates are fun....so here is a 2 year update...
