But thanks for the heads up Wink

have now changed the angel, so it is not so killer. took the frame out of the boat, then it is a little easier to work on.

almost finished Wink

UPDATE: thinking about building a float instead, worried that it might be to heavy for the boat. still not decided about that.

The weather here in BC is starting to warm up... as you all know if you've been following the "winter" Olympics lol. Rolling Eyes

Time to start finishing my project. The days are getting warm enough to paint so I'm starting the first coat of white latex paint. 1 Gallon should be enough to get a few coats across this 26 foot span.

Pictures Coming soon...

BTW 'wakemads' that frame is looking great man. Those carpet rolls are way bigger than i thought. As for me I think i might use a hardwood for my surface. (undecided)

Yeah, I am happy with the frame, but I have abandoned the small boat, I don`t trust it. it can keep it afloat and stable, but what if it gets full of water, cause I won´t beach it every time i am finished with it.

So I am building a raft a lot like that rainbow slider on this page, and attaching the frame to that instead. got 5 barrels for the equal of 10 USD, brand new. will be done by the weekend. And we still got snow here, so it will be a little while before it can be tested

That is a really neat project. We don't have any sliders on the lake I go to. I can't wait to see how it sits in the water.

decided to go with a float instead of the boat.

so i build one, this is how it looks.

weekend is over, and i only need to bolt the frame to the float, as well as installing the sides.

but almost done.

Looks good wakemads, I'm taking mine down to the launch today to see how it sits. I'll takes some pictures for you all to enjoy.

PS: are you going to sheet your rig? you could really hurt yourself if you bail onto that thing.

yeah its gonna get sheets but its kind of big so will do the final assembly at the beach.
Transport it down there in three/3 pieces. and bolt it together and then balance it in the shallows.
pull it out and tie it down with 5 anchors

Basically waiting for the snow to clear and the weather / water to get warmer. all our water is still iced over. Also have to get the tow boat ready. middle of april and it will be in the water.

CAN´T WAIT.

Here it is. Looks like we're going to have to dump some weight into the boat just to get ride of that gap from the sheeting to the water.

Other than that the thing is as solid as a rock. I jumped around on it and it's very stable. With anchors and weight she won't budge a bit.

Check it out.

Nice looks good.

but that is a lot of weight to put in the boat if you want the water to get level with the sides. Might be better to extend the plywood on the back, so you cant get under it.

Leave the sides. you will still slide of it if you fall

Yah i thought the same thing, it would be too much weight to be level with the water but a few inches lower would be perfect. I'm throwing a couple sandbags around the inside of the hull and have finished closing in the front. Can't wait to rail this thing in a couple weeks!!!

hmm i have to wait a least 1 1/2 month until the water will be ok to get in with a drysuit, that sucks.

just bought the sheets today. 12mm wood the most expensive part of the hole project.

post a video or pics when you hit that thing.

I've welded guide poles on the trailer and covered them with pvc to protect the boat. Closed in the front and the white coats are done. all the finish paint is going on monday-tuesday.

More to come...

Thanks and thanks Wink

we are pretty glad the way it ended up. for a first time, its a big pass. if / when we build no 2, it will be a lot easier / faster. me and one of my friends, built most of it, like 90 %, and we sit in front of a computer from morning to evening. so trial and error, and it might be over-designed at some points.

just need to find a nice paint job for it, unfortunately none of us is very good at graffiti, but are trying to get some grafitti artist to come and give it a paint job. the selling point " get the only piece in the water for all the sailers / tourists to see."

won`t get in the water until May, but will post pics as soon as it is in the water.

Cheers and happy Boarding, the season is about to start Wink
