He's gonna be a defensive assistant for you guys.
edit: Cal's defense and special teams play have been under scrutiny for a long time. ST coach 'left' the program shortly after last season ended and now the DC is gone. Change is welcome at this point in Berkeley.

What is going on in Eugene, 2010 is not a good year so far. Every additional news item is just going to contribute to the pressure on the team to do something (not just to the walk-ons) and the media frenzy to find more dirt so they can kick them while they're down. What's the word locally on Mac-Stole-y? I would have to assume LaMichael is toast if he is found guilty, not even UO PR can spin that one with all the other things going on.
As much as I dislike the yucks, I don't like to see this as it tells the rest of the nation that only a completely out of control program (from a disciplinary/community perspective) can perform at the highest level in the PAC10. At some point soon I would think the decisions are going to be taken out of Chip's hands.

Sounds like there is no evidence that Masoli did anything, only the claims of frat member.
James is on bail. Like I said earlier it was an issue with his girlfriend(possibly ex), lots of rumors and conjecture.

USC doesn't help out too much either. Not that anything has been proven or they have been punished.

Thanks... I was in Park City all last week and have been out of the loop. Seems like a move in the wrong direction for him to go from Cal's DC to BSU's Def. Assistant. ... I bet something is in the works.

It might not matter whether he is found guilty or not...

Quote: | Hearing raises questions about LaMichael James’ football future
BY JACK MORAN
The Register-Guard
The football eligibility of University of Oregon running back LaMichael James may be at risk.
At a hearing today, attorneys for James asked Lane County Circuit Judge Charles Zennache to modify the terms of James’ release agreement to allow James to go to school and receive tutoring and athletic training on the UO campus.
James was charged last week with assault and released from jail on the condition that he not go on campus or otherwise be within two miles of his alleged female victim.
The judge said James could attend training and tutoring at the Casanova Center next to Autzen Stadium, but that he would not change the stipulation prohibiting James from going onto the main UO campus.
Former UO women’s basketball coach Bev Smith said James could live at her residence, but Zennache disapproved of that because Smith lives within two miles of campus.
James has been living at the home of Athletic Department nutritionist and life skills director James Harris, but the NCAA has indicated that is a violation of NCAA rules, James’ attorneys said.
If James is unable to go on campus, he could fail his classes and risk losing his scholarship, his attorneys said. |

I wonder how much (if any) trouble UO is going to get in for having James living with Harris?

that's a pretty big no-no. i can't imagine that is going to escape notice by the ncaa. i've also heard that james is academically ineligible for the spring at the minimum, but i can't verify that (uo fan who seems pretty in tune w/ the situation mentioned it on another board).

in high school? all they had to do was file paperwork and request another season of eligibility w/ the state athletic officials. i did it and was granted an exemption. not a big deal - this is 100% on the coach, not the player.
don't see how it affects oregon at all. hs eligibility has zero to do w/ ncaa eligibility, afaik.
