I am currently building my first slider.

spent some time finding out how to do it, if it has to be portable, i would get a small boat minimum 12/13 foot. Easy to move around and you dont have to build a float, it all comes in on package.
the boat dont need to be in a fantastic condition. the one i bought only cost around 100 usd. just need to float !?!

there are actually a lot of good projects on this site, spend some time looking it true read the quotes and study the pics. and then just start. thats what i did, and i have no background in manufacturing, i am in sales and marketng. sit on my flat, the hole day Very Happy

regarding you question about angels etc, its just a little math, and all depend on how big you wanna go.

best of luck and put up some pics when you get started.

Hey warwick

year you got the difference down.

If i had to built a kicker/ ramp, that are portable, i would buy a old small boat. Put in a floor of wood to fasten whatever you are building to.

If you are building it only using wood, thats possible, but i would use metal for the frame, and bolt it to the wood floor. If you use metal you get a less bulky frame.

If you look at my project, it should be in the thread before this one. i have used this way.

mostly using discarded wood for the floor , and scrap metal for the frame.

When i am finished it will have cost me about 600-700 USD.

Main reason , it is so expensive, I live in Denmark. expensive place to live. have a VAT of 25% for one.

built most from discarded wood and scrap metal.

however i had to buy the boat. = 150 USD.

Had to buy the wood for the slider itself. = 50 USD.

Bolts nails etc. 60 USD

Paint for the wood and metal = 60 USD

Wood plates for the sides. 100 USD.

Plus etc. something always comes up.

For a kicker i'd say check your local car washes for discarded waste barrells. They'll probably sell them to you. Use them for floats and build a 2x4 frame around those.
