|
|
I have a foam core Zap skimboard that I'm considering for a wakesurfer, just to see if I'd be interested in buying a specifically designed board. I can catch and ride a wave crashing on the shore in the ocean, so I would think it to be possible, but with no fins and very little concave, I'm not sure if I'd be able to toss the rope using it. Any thoughts?
Also, I have gotten up on it behind a boat, so that is not an issue. At slow speeds it's still maneuverable just like in the ocean. _________________

We can put quite a bit of weight in the boat with ballast, but as far as placement, should it all be in the rear corner, or should we have other passengers sit up front as well? I'm guessing it's more of a trial and error thing, but in your experience. I've never tried this , so any other noob tips would help. _________________

What size and make boat? Alot of the weight should indeed be in the rear corner, but you definitely want some up front. The ratio depends on the length and shape of the hull. _________________ WakeSurf and Wakesurfing News |

It's a 21' bay boat, so you probably aren't familiar with it's hull design. It's the only boat that I have available to me right now to generate that kind of wake, but we wakeboard behind it and at low speeds with the ballast we have, it looks like I could get a surf wake to shape up nicely. I'm a little concerned with carbon monoxide, but I know what symptoms to watch for, so hopefully we'll all stay safe. _________________

If its not an Inboard, then you should not Wakesurf behind it. 1 wrong fall and you can go head first into the prop. _________________ WakeSurf and Wakesurfing News |

Duly noted. I've seen pictures of what I definitely don't want my hand or other members to look like. But, there's no way to reach the prop unless the boat is dead in the water. You'd have to have a pretty impressive dolphin kick methinks. Perhaps Michael Phelps might need to reconsider. _________________

Yes, I tried it, no it did not work. It needs to have a fin because you can't carve without one and still hold the wake at the speed you have to go. _________________
