Anyone buy a waterproof housing for a Panasonic camera? Does Epiccam.com make a good housing for these cams?

DO NOT BUY A EPIC WATER HOUSING FOR A 5,000 DOLLAR CAMERA!

sorry. just had to say that. But really if you want to insure your camera will be safe you gotta spend $$$. housings are expensive for our cameras because our cameras are worth money and housings need to be strong.

i recently bought a housing for my hvx200 from www.waterhousings.com

this guy was featured in the standard magazine and makes some of the best housings in the world.

if not this guy check out www.splhousings.com

if it doesnt cost 1,500 or more its crap

It depends.. If you're in the splash zone and you just want some added protection then you're OK... but if you're taking it on a tube or a ride along then you're potentially asking for trouble.

If you're serious then I second dirty's recommendation on SPL Waterhousing. There is a nice write up on them here: http://www.norcalsurfers.com/word/features/spl-waterhousings/

Sean (the owner) is a super cool guy and their customer service is top-notch! Service is very important when you need replacement parts or just have a question. This seems trivially, but some companies (cough... del mar housings) can't seem to figure it out. SPL products are also used by majority of the top surfing photogs, so if it holds up to pipe, jaws, off the wall, then you'll be good for wakeboarding. Cool

btw - SPL does rent.. so if you're on the fence or you just want to check out their quality.. give it a go with a rental first.
