Any suggestions out there for something that would prevent water going up my privates when I wipe out? I have heard of a case of a woman needing stitches after a bad fall. I was thinking of wet suit shorts? |

Jock strap? I know female parachuters wear them so they don't whistle all the way down to the ground. _________________

Gwen - generally a bathing suit bottom plus board shorts does the trick. You certainly could rock a wetsuit when it is cold. I have never heard of anyone getting hurt there from wiping out - for goodness sakes women squeeze babies out! Unless I heard what happened from that lady personally I wouldn't put much belief in that story. |

Actually, that exact thing happened to my older sister's best friend when we were all at the lake. It busted her hymen and she had a lot of bleeding for a few weeks. Was not a good deal for her-they told her at the time she might not be able to have kids, which later turned out to be false. _________________

Lizrd is probably right. My wife wears a bikini bottom with board shorts over that and she's never had any issues.
Busting the hymen would be a bummer and I gotta imagine that is painful. Plus that could be a tough thing to explain at some point. "No really, it happened wakeboarding". _________________ If love is blind, why is lingerie so popular? |

Grace Kelly had the Field Hockey story! Anyway, it seems to me you could do some damage b/c I have been blasted to the point of pain before. It all depends on the angle and speed that you hit the water. I have not tried board shorts over a suit, that makes sense. A jock strap seems like it would be uncomfortable. And since whistling is not a problem wakeboarding...well you get the idea. But hey, learn something new everyday.
A new product: wakeboarding shorts for women (although a male friend told me he likes to wear a wet suit b/c he has been hit hard going down as well).
Thanks,
Gwen |

board shorts fix this issue fo sho!! I had this problem when I first started. I think it's kinda funny when I see chicks wearing skimpy little bikini bottoms trying to wakeboard. . because I know what's coming when they fall! |

I wear Jet Pilot 'skuffy' boardshorts...they have an inner neoprene liner and normal boardshort material on the outside. I'm pretty sure they were 'skuffy'-got them off ebay.
I really love the O'neill superfreak series shorts-wish I could have those with a neoprene liner. |

Any boardshorts will help I'm sure.
Never had this problem myself, but I always wear bikini bottom & boardshorts whenever I ride. |

I agree with Aubs. I ALWAYS wear boardshorts. I have a friend that rides with me as well and she wears boardshorts and has not complained of any problems! My boardshorts are ones that I purchased at Kohl's...so they're nothing special! |

Me too, always wear bikini bottoms and board shorts. I've had a couple of big wipeouts but it never even occured to me there would be an issue there |

Yeah just bikini bottoms and boardies, and chuck on a shortie wetsuit in winter.
I have a friend who forgot her board shorts and just went in her bikini bottoms, side ties, needless to say they didn't stay on very long _________________ Suck it up and get hardcore! |

ahhh that sucks! Well here in Dubai you could actually get away without a wetsuit in winter. But a bit chilly if you're pulling 30 minute sets. _________________ Suck it up and get hardcore! |

I'm still in awe about the story of someone bursting their hymen in a wakeboarding accident. I would have thought that's a complete farce. I don't own that particular equipment but that's GOT to HURT!!! _________________ After the bikini women's beachwear. |

Quick biology lesson - no you wouldn't even know it had happened. Happens to many women in active sports such as horseriding, gymnastics etc etc. No biggy. _________________ Suck it up and get hardcore! |
