Oh No!!! That Opus X was a MAJOR DISAPPOINTMENT. Took them over to the neighbors to have them..... One for him, one for me... He was the guy that got me started on this. Long story short....his was great and I couldn't keep mine lit.... It was a dud..... I felt CHEATED. Waited all day to be blown away and was left wanting....

He did give me a humidor to use, so all was not lost.... But I am bummed.....

Going back tomorrow to get humidor gear....

ADD this AM.

Picked up 4 more OpusX's, 1 courtesy of the shop. Big thumbs up to them for replacing my defective stick. Also picked up 2 Casa Magna Robusto's....

Yes, pro reviews appear SKY HIGH, with the average smoker having a hit and miss expereience....? I have not sparked another(have 4 in the humidor)....but expect I will sometime in the next week.

I just ordered my first box. Alec Bradley Tempus Terra Nova's..... Had 2 over the weekend and they will become my "go to" cigar as I find my way. They are not terrible on the wallet....and will give my humidor something to do.....

(picked up 6 more sticks today09/29/09 and box delivered tomorrow, need to get humidity dialed in, currently calibrating the hygrometer)

Wish I could have a week like that Nor*Cal...

Though I have had(many years ago) what someone claimed was a Cuban, I am fairly confident that it was a fake.

At some point I would VERY much like to get a few samplers maybe a 5er of each...
Partagás Serie D No. 4
Cohíba Robustos
Romeo y Julieta Exhibición No. 4
Montecristo Master
and spend some time deciding if Cubans are all they are cracked up to be....

Couple early gifts to myself.... No worries about the humidity being at 53%, I was arranging the sticks and had the hygrometer on the counter for 10 minutes or so.

Thanks.

Bought the hygrometer at my local B&M... They are reportedly FAR MORE accurate. They are very easy to get online and a bit cheaper. This is what I have, I recommend it.

Found a few gems this evening while looking for something else.... Had never even seen an Opus Shark or Love Story before....

Oh man I am salivating. Those Tatuaje's are sweet.

Burned my first Alec Bradley last weekend and it was fantastic.

Someone asked about Nubs. I've sampled them all, including the Maduro. All are great in their own right, but the Connecticut and the Cameroon are my Fav's. The Habano Nub is a Sumatra wrapper and can either be very harsh or very smooth, it's a crap shoot. It also can be very full bodied.

Another smoke with a Habano wrapper that is a great utility (read cheap but quality) cigar is the Henry Clay. I really haven't had a bad one of these and I have had many.

Just picked up a 5er of the new Tat Tenderloin…. Word is they are the best limited release from Pete Johnson since the OR T110’s and/or the Pork Chop…..

I am sure we could arrange getting together for a drink and a cigar while you are at the Canyons....

Weather has A LOT to do with enjoying a cigar when you are smoking outside..... Being that I don't smoke in my home and all bars & BM cigar shops are smoke free in Utah....weather is a HUGE FACTOR in my cigar consumption....

I will smoke an Oliva G series on occasion, mostly because they are cheap and of pretty good quality. If I am not mistaken, it won 2008 cigar of the year. Then again, I am probably mistaken.

I assume you are talking about Cigar Aficionados’ "Cigar of the Year."

In 2008 it was the controversial Casa Magna Robusto....

I have never had an Olivia G, but it seems the people like Olivia Cigars, maybe the most popular being the V Series....

E.J., hmm, I don't truly recall. I enjoyed the G series that I tried, and it was cheaper than the cohiba that everyone seemed to fap to. But again, I am not sure of what a really good stick is nor could I even appreciate one fully. I did try a stick about a year ago, I cant recall the region where the blend came from, but the guy said if I ever smoked pot when I was in college I would enjoy it and he was right lol. God knows what it was. Cigars were a major relief when I quit cigarettes though, so I will give them much respect.

What do you do with the cigar boxes after you've put the cigars in the humidor?

I've got a padron 1964 that I'm excited about from recommendations here. Newbie enthusiast checking in.

Stack them in the bar.... Though soon enough, I am either going to have to get a cabinet humidor or start using a cooler....either one, the cigars will stay in the box.

Those Padron 1964's are GREAT! Enjoy.... Very Happy

I have SERIOUSLY considered building one in the bar....Laughing If the Boss would let me smoke in the bar(I offered to put in an exhaust system), I would probably do it.....

But....Michelle says that there is as much a chance of me smoking in the house as flying....
