Hey everyone... I'm just wondering what I'm doing wrong in my jumps to go w2w, or what I need to do more of, or what my boat needs to do. PLease help any way you can, heres a video of me attempting some w2w jumps.
either shorten the rope or speed the boat up. You should be on the nice wake thats 5-10ft closer, but the boat speeing up will fix that too. _________________ Need riders in the Fort Collins, CO Area!
Ya i would def shorten the rope up some. if you have an I/O or outboard i would even trip the prop up a little bit to clean that wake up. Def cut out more and on the way in edge just as hard all the way through the wake. _________________
You have to work on cutting harder! You are just turning the board and letting the boat pull you to the center. Work on cutting hard and getting up on edge, practise leaning back and pulling hard on the rope. Try to cut out heelside and toeside and see if you can get 90* from the boat, you will have to cut hard to go that fast! If you really want to get better buy a DVD called "The Book" it goes over everything in detail and teaches you how to progress correctly. How's my form looking?
Not good.
When you are taking your cut away from the wake, you are leaning in the direction you want to go. Instead, lean BACK against the rope and roll your knees towards the shore. This will put your weight over your toes and give you that good toeside edge out.
Wait for the boat to begin pulling you back towards the wake. Gradually increase your edge and increase speed, like shifting gears in a car. Keep your eye on the wake as you approach it and begin standing up as you ride up the wake. The tension on the line should remain taut and you should keep the handle low by your lead hip. Edge THROUGH the wake (you are flattening out), wait for the POP, look at the opposite shore to spot your landing, land on edge and ride away....
I would say don't try to W2W until you've got your technique down, you need to get the form correct first, then it's going to make it much easier. Just cut out maybe a few meters and practice progressive edging, becase at the moment you come in with your board totally flat with no edge, so basically you're killing your pop potential.
After you've edged out toe-side, set your position, bring the handle to your lead hip, let the boat pull you back in toward the boat and as you increase speed put more weight onto your heels, to edge more progressively, keep doing that till you get to the wake, then keeping that edge stand tall, pull the handle down towards your hip. Keep practicing and you'll feel the pop, height and distance increasing as you get the hang of it.
Shorten that rope up, so that the distance across the wake is less. _________________ Suck it up and get hardcore!
Between :13 and :14 you turn your board 45 degrees and aim for the wake. This is not 'progressive', so it does not build the necessary tension to go W2W.
