I've got little experience with both. other the my handycam =).
Can't seem to figure out which would be good. I will probably just be using it for wakeboarding. Could I find a camcorder that takes somewhat decent pictures..?

Panasonic LX3, it's a point and shoot camera but shoots a HD video. The downside is you can't zoom when doing a video Confused

LX3 is an awesome P&S camera, I also hate it when doing video and when there is a spotlight, it produces lines that unfortunately you cannot get rid of.

The LX3 is an amazing camera, especially excels in low light situations with the fast f/2.0 leica lens

It's also quite limited with zoom (24-60mm)
tradeoff for a fast lens, ok by me...

It does produce lines (as francisD09 mentioned) when it's faced with bright lights in video mode (example, spotlight at rock concert panning, when pointed right at camera, vertical lines are produced)
In normal picture mode, this is not an issue.

If you don't need the fast lens, the new Panasonic ZS3 looks very tempting.
25-300mm range, can zoom in and out while recording, and ability to record in AVCHD (better compression and no more 2GB recording limit)
also records sound in stereo

I'm tempted to buy this as a replacement for the LX3 I already sold, but I really need the fast lens for most of whay I use it for.

If anybody has an LX3 for sale I would be glad to buy it Very Happy
