I kind of waited two months too late to start studying for a test I have this Monday. I bought the reference book today, that they are mailing, and an on-line PDF version of the book. The on line version will allow me to read the book on line but it will not let me save the pdf files or print them.

Is there any way to make the non printable pdf a printable one?

lcap, you would need some sort of screen capture software to do it. You could use the ol "ALT+PRINT SCREEN" but that would take forever.

We use a program called SnagIt that might be able to capture the book. It has a scrolling screenshot capture feature that may be able to get through the book, but I've never tried it out on something like that.

http://www.techsmith.com/screen-capture.asp

It says they offer a "fully functional" 30 day trial.....

Can you save it? If you can save it, someone with Adobe Acrobat Pro should be able to edit it for you to a printable format.

EDIT: App correction

chavez,

Thank you! I tried the free trial and time after time it would capture the first 120 pages and then stop. This part of the book is 400 pages and the software starts at the beginning of the document each time. Since I can't save it, I can't break it up.

Rhawn,

Unfortunately it won't let me save it, copy parts of it or print anything.

Thanks for the help, its my own fault for waiting so long.

Tyler T Shocked

Yes, I lost in the paper, scissor, rock game in the office so I get to take it. I just started studying, hopefully I pass because I don't have time to re-take it under the new LEED system with the 15 credit hours/year requirement.

Did you take it? How difficult is it? I have a tough time with memorization tests to begin with. I did get an audio book on my Ipod though.....

lcap, I think in Snagit you can choose where to begin taking your screenshot... maybe.

Never tried it on something that big though, so you are in uncharted territory my friend!

It looks like it'll work for smaller files but.....I'll be in very familiar waters the way my studying has been going..

I took it last year. Studied lazily for 2 months and passed with the minimum score. I will say, though, that that was one of my less impressive test performances. I'm usually a very good test taker.

I knew it was the LEED test because I know you're a contractor and I know they're changing the rules on June 30. Some of my co-workers are in the same boat as you right now.

So you know, even if you take the test now and grandfather into the new system, you still have to get on board with the continuing education credits in order to stay current. If you don't, you'll get classified as a LEED AP - No specialty and I'm afraid that designation will be obsolete before too long with the speed they are developing the system at.

Might seem unfair, but it's probably for the best since technology is changing so rapidly, you're not doing your clients many favors if you're not keeping up.
