Does anyone have pics of how they loop their rope onto the tower. THis is my first boat with a Ski Pole Type attachment. So, just curious how you guys gets yours securely on there.

Wow, my paint skills SUCK. but, here you go.

So basically, take the section of rope closest to the handle directly before the loop at the length you want, push it through the first loop, and slip the resulting loop over the pole. This will cause the pull of the rider to keep the rope snug.

Tough to describe, super easy to do once you figure it out. Hope this helps somewhat :-/

Reach through the loop you want to ride from. Grab the rope that will be pulled on from the rider. Pull that rope through the loop. Hook to tower. Tighten. ta-da...

some people recommend not doing it that way so that if the rider gives slack during a trick the rope doesn't come off the tow point. Some do it that way and have never had a problem.

Well, I am thinking by what is shown above, I may have assembled my line wrong. I have a small loop at one end and multiple loop sections (to adjust the lenght) on the other. I attached the handle to the end with the multiple loops and used the small loop on the ski eye on my old boat. Now I have the tower and I thought I would take the small loop, put it over the tower, twist it into a figure 8, then put the new formed loop over the tower pole again, and be good. The loop I have is not big enough for that.

Thanks for the help so far, just want to make sure I don't have any ropes coming off the tow point.

of the simple thread the rope through the loophole to make a small loop that pulls tight around the towpoint when pressure is applied. Does that make sense? If you have a rope near you it's super easy to see what I'm talking about I think, but if not, then it's probably not.

EDIT: upon closer examination, the illustration is in fact what I was talking about. Just kinda skipped down as I skimmed, oops

I double loop over the tower. If there's not enough room I just set it on top. I know a lot of people who do it like ont diagrammed but I don't think that is as effective. For one it creates a kink in the rope, a pressure point. Secondly, it tightens around the tower so when you cut it jerks side to side. I can feel it in the boat and while I'm riding.

A single or double loop has no pressure points and easily sides as the rider cuts.

Wakebrad, my tower attachement swivels, so it is good that it's tight... it just moves easily back and forth.

Yup, same here...groove that the rope goes in is on bearings so it spins with the rope. I would think it would cause more problems to have the pressure primarily on the split in the rope than on the actual strong point, but i probably just suck at physics.

Thirdly, if the slip knot slides tightens just past the knot to make the actual loop, it may be difficult to get it off.

kyle f, I don't think he was all that serious. The theme of this thread lacked seriousness after the noose post. My favorite was LF's recommendation to tie it like shoelaces. Laughing
