Hey I hardly ever see any one talk about Centurion boats. How do you guys feel about them? Price, quality, wake, etc.. I need some help, I was looking at them last night and the sales guy wouldn't dog any other boat but said they build just as good of a boat as any of their competitors. What do you guys think?

I have an '02 Avalanche. Great boat. I am having trouble though with the Mercruiser 350 MPI mag in it. Going through serpentine belts regularly. Not a Centurion problem and Mercruiser is covering under warranty but I'm on the fourth belt and warranty is up in July. I now have it at a Premier Merc' shop so I hope they can fix it for good. The last 'certified' Merc' mechanic put the wrong belt on. Idiot! The Avalanche is a great boat otherwise. Fit and finsih, storage, amenities, wake, tower, just love it. Great gelcoat graphics too.

He's about 10k high over my boat. And I had them throw in Boss B-69's, a new wakeboard w/bindings, and a new line. Good luck. Be sure to ask them about their compliance with the service directives on that motor. There are two: Booster pump and Serpentine belt pulley replacement.

Hey, check out the Ski Supreme's, they are a beautiful boat as well. They are a little wider then a centurion, and they also handle like a dream. I have many pictures on my website, and a cool video on there too. www.rvmarine.ca and www.skisupreme.com They also started building a 23 foot Vdrive this year too.

I was shopping last week and found some deals on the 03 Avalanche, one dealer said $37k + T&L for a real basic package, $40k + T&L for the Eisenhauer another dealer said $43K + T&L for Avalanche with silver package. They looked like a real nice boat. I was a little concerned about what kind of wake it had when not wakeboarding. I also wanted a cruiser that could be ski'd behind and good for tubes and kneboards. None would do a demo...

I ended up getting an 03 Malibu Wakesetter LSV for $49k out the door. I liked the storage and seating, etc. better. The dealer offered a demo right away. I figured the Malibu would hold its value better and was only $2500 more over a similarly equipped Avalanche.

It was a tough choice.

I'f your gonna buy one get 02 or newer, they changed the hulls around a bit and made them way better. i've ridden behind probably 7 or 8 different air warriors and the wake on every one of them sucked IMHO. the one 03 avilanche I rode behind had a great wake though, good shape, pop, and width. no complaints in that respect, but pre-02's suck as far as build quality. 2 or three of the boats I rode behind have had serious mechanical problems, and one literally blew up on the water the 2nd trip it was out. just my 2 cents.

I couldn't agree more with skinautique1985. I have seen nothing but problems with pre-02 centurions. However, I have heard good things about the newer ones.

I got an 03 Centurion Hurricane. Love it to death. I love this size boat that they have to offer. Price point was great for a boat of that nature.

If I was looking at an Avalanche I'd check out a malibu as well. I'd much rather have a bu for a couple k more. For the amount of money an Avalanche cost I'd (ME personally)be way hapier with a Bu. I didn't care much for the wake on the Avalanche. I was only behind a Brett E edition 5 times for demo's and didn't care too much for it (factory ballast plus another 1000). I thought it should be a litel better for a bot that size. I'm not bashing Centurion I love mine. But if I was going for that boat (Avalanche) I would definately check out some other options and ride behind them for sure.

I don't know about the previous statement made by the most recently expelled member of the Centurion supporters club. Malibu? Can you say funky tower boats? Yes they are nice, but... Graphics? Color options? Where's the cooler? I've only toured the website but I'm not that impressed with them...My Avalanche has more storage than you need, a cooler within reach of the driver, proflight swoop tower and unique gelcoat graphics. Kicka$$ wake too...I smite you and your sweet Hurricane. May your serpentine belt shred like mine....

I have a 2001 Elite V-Drive with air warrior. I got it from a friend who is on the Centurion Team. I ride behind his Avalanche all the time too, great boat. As for my wake I am shocked. It throws a better wake than the avalanches and my friends x-30. We can't figure out why, I've riden behind others and they sort of sucked. But mine, with the balast full and 2 600 sacks in back and a 500 in front, thorws the best wake ever. Perfect lip, hard, and huge with a lot of power. Great boat.

IMO, the newer Centurions definetly look sweet. I haven't ridden in/behind anything accept for an Avalanche (Ike edition), and unfortunately, I was disappointed in the wake with just the factory ballast. That's the only experience I have with them, but from what I've read in various publications, the Hurricane is the boat to get for optimum wakeboard performance from the Centurion Storm series....

Here is my Centurion its a 2002 hurricane. I bought it new with no hours for 29k. It came with 3 ballast tanks. Tower, racks, Nice kenwood system. I real happy with the wake w/ just the stock ballast and 5 or 6 people.

ckligor, I know my dealer still has a new hurricane left over from 2002. I think you can get a sweet deal on it for around 27k. Let me know if you are interested.

Wow! $29k, sweet. All the dealers here are quoting $35k + T&L.

How does that hull handle in the rough water. Does it hunt or slice? Cut through the waves or slap?

Cuts through chop like no other boat I've ever been on. Real smooth in rough water. Like I said above they still have a leftover 2002 you can rip for around 27K!!!

Sounds like a nice boat, but after searching around hear I ended up getting a Malibu.

The dealer told me that hull had an amazing ride, I was a little suspicous since the boat is fairly narrow at the wetted surface and not very heavy. Glad to hear it performs.

Josh would probably buy a Malibu with some funky forward swoop tower. 35-45k? IMHO, you gotta go Avalanche. Of course, I'm not a professional boat weigher-downer like most of the young bucks on this post. I only run stock ballast. And I'm only about to land my first invert-in my dreams. That's as close as I'll get to actually doing it. For my lame riding style, the Avalanche works just fine. Looks cool, holds everything, makes enough wake to do any trick invented. (just not by me) What more do you need?

Ok here is my deal.. I bought a Baja a year ago. They gave me a Jobie wake board for free with it. I put it on and road it for like 4 months and decided I like the sport so much I got a Trip 138 and just ordered a CWB prod for my girlfriend. Now I'm sick of being towed from the ski eye on the bottom of the boat. She loves the sport so we wanted to get a True Wakeboarding boat. I have options but I'd like a new boat. I think a tower on a Baja just doesn't look good nor would it be something I think we would be happy with for to long. It's fun to go fast but we just don't do that any more.. The wake it kicks out is nice but the sweet spot is like 6-8 feet long and I have to pull at 20 to get enough to clear the wake, but then I'm stuck at 5 feet of air maybe 6 feet max. We just needed some guidance to end up happy. You can talk to dealers and they all say their stuff is the shiznik. I want opinions and I have a idea now but the Nati is just too Much $$ and the Mastercraft X-Star and X-30 are up there to. So I am looking at the Malibu and the Centurion. My dealer that I got the Baja from sells the Centurion and is more willing to work with me then the Malibu dealer is.

Im telling you its worth the drive to Reno or mabie they will ship it. But that 02 hurricane is still there, and they want to get rid if it. I know you can steal it for under 27k. It has the storm I pkg. so you only get a tower and one ballast tank.

I think build quality on the Malibu is better, but you know the saying, you get what you pay for is 100% true with boats.

Malibu uses balsa in their IO sport runabouts. Not sure what they do with their wakesetters. My Centurion is a rock throught the chop. No slapping just cutting. I'd not think twice. Look close, you'll agree.

from what I ahve seen, Centurion is starting to do some good work. I will be in the market next year for a 20K to 29K V-drive boat, fairly brand new. I have been searching for boats in my price range, and moomba and centurion seem to be there. I have to rule Matercrafts, Nautiques and Malibu's out, just to bloody expensive. (I am not a Lawyer). From what I have seen, the Hurricane and Cyclone seem to be fairly well built boat and a great value. I have seen a 02' hurricane, and an 03' cyclone both in my price range.

Am I right to assume these are well built boats?

Millertyme, I have the trade in problem though. What is the size of the hurricane? Color? Etc.. I know it's not your boat but to the best of your memory what was the skinny other then the sotrm 1 pkg? Thanks for keeping your eyes open guys.. Prices from all over are helpfull, I don't mind driving to get it.

Hey Millertyme (nice name btw), how does your 4-runner handle that boat. I have the same ride as you. ? Is it 4WD, mine is not and I know my boat at the moment ways less then yours and on steep wet ramps, I have to have some friends on the back bumber to get me up. Just curious?

Also, so you said you paid 29K for a fully loaded Hurricane? Do you work in the boating buisness, if not, I think I will base my expectations on what you paid.

You have a sweet ride my friend!

The 4-runner does fine, pulls it like a champ. If I ever need more power on a ramp I just drop it in to 4 low and it will rip the boat out of any where.

My boat was a 2002 close out. My dealer was selling them at cost to make room for the 2003s.

Phone number for custom boat and marine is (775) 852-4535 ask for Steve Miller < thats not me.
