Its' here... not a huge fan of the looks but I bet it has some presence in the marina. I'd be rather tempted...
Kind of looks like the styling's going to be a grower rather than an instant hit.... Love the slimmed down features and idea of extra plug and play ballast.
seems like you can get it out the door with everything you want/need for under $45,000! Seems like a steal to me... _________________ www.AxisBoats.co.uk | www.Malibu-Boats.co.uk |

i think it looks pretty damn good for a "budget boat" but i think 45 seems high for what was being talked about, where did you hear that? But even for 45 that seems like a whole lotta niceness very cool interior and lighting.
If it is in fact just under 45 theres no question I'd go for the Axis over a moomba, pending reviews of the wake and how well it holds up over time.
Seems to me they made it too nice, unless that boat is optioned out to the max... then you could get a bare bones wake boat for in the 30K range maybe? _________________ Wake Forest University |

BSBell, sorry, do you know something we don't? thats a very bold statement to make when the glass, vinyl, motor, trans, gauges, controls and electronics are all proven parts - and some, pretty much identical to what you have in your nautique.
Blindside_137, I believe its $39,999 with trailer, motor, ballast, stereo etc out the door. _________________ www.AxisBoats.co.uk | www.Malibu-Boats.co.uk |

BSBell, what on earth makes you say that? we know very little about Axis, but being a sub-company from Malibu i would expect to see problems (if any) be fixed in a quick and painless manner..
Brit Rider, wow, sounds like a winner.. the price of boats now is getting absurd, i mean the VLX is now over 60K base price and the VTX is just 3K under that.
From the video it looks like a phenomenal boat for that amount of money. _________________ Wake Forest University |

Why the F&*% would you build a boat that doesn't have a wrap around windshield? I love the new boat startups, but ANYONE that has sat in a boat on cold days/windy days knows that spray in that boat will be obscene coming over the gunnels with the way that the Axis' windshield setup is currently designed....

I'm thinking the same thing. To me the lack of a wrap around windshield looks stupid and you loose a significant amount of function.
I also don't much care for the fact that many companies have started going to a more minimal amount of tower mounting points. This is most likely to help facilitate view of the lake for the driver and of course for looks. Personally I think the "look" is dumb and the towers are beginning to look unfinished and poorly supported. I think the upholstery leaves something to be desired too. It looks kinda like an 80's bowling alley to me. Thats not to say that with some option tweaking it may look better, but until I can "build your boat" I don't like it.

I somewhat agree, however I do also believe that Malibu (and/or Axis) will be stand up about problems from the get go and fix them as needed. Any new product is going to go through an initial ironing stage, where the manufacturer addresses any problems that did not surface during engineering and testing. New cars have little things wrong all the time, and so do new boats. Its just the nature of the design process that minor problems always rear their ugly head when things get built. I highly doubt that any serious problems will arise though. |

I saw one at the Knoxville Boat Show. It was all balck, with dark grey interior. It was $45000 to, and they kept referring to it as a price point boat. Ouch!
However, for what you can get into a 22'er in other makes, the price isn't bad.
I noticed the windshield to, and the Generla Manager of the dealer said he drive it, and it was very functional. Then he invited me to test driv eit and see for myself. Heck, this was when I was looking at the Malibu's in another area. So, who knows. Can't know how functional it is until then.
However, they do not have a ski pylon in the rear. I know these are wake machines, but dang... with the Wedge up and the ballast empty, you would think someone might want to ski. _________________ Always looking for others who ride on Norris Lake in TN

I don't care about an ugly boat and a thousand pics everyone has already seen. I want to see the wake and people riding it. |

kyle f, woah, wasn't being cocky - just saying; seems like you could just use the handle on the back.
The boat is a wakeboard boat, not ski boat and will not throw a decent ski wake - thus the addition of a pylon, in my opinion, isn't going to make much difference... the lower pulls going to be useful if anything!
You seem to be forgetting that this is a budget tow boat - sacrifices have to be made to keep the costs down... _________________ www.AxisBoats.co.uk | www.Malibu-Boats.co.uk |

Hard to sell a 45k entry boat when there are 45k '08 VLXs everywhere. _________________ Steal My Book

Didn't take you ask cocky... I think you mis understood me. I was rolling my eyes because... in essence, my I/O runabout has a Ski Eye. I mean seriously... how much does a pylon really save. This seems like a sacrafice that really wasn't worth it.
I know the wake won't be great for skiing, but with the ballas empty and wedge up, it should be a better skiier than my boat. I think they should have made a cut somwhere else. _________________ Always looking for others who ride on Norris Lake in TN

Axis is an entry level wake boat, so there's no need for a ski pylon. If you want a crossover wake with a pretty good wakeboarding wake, go with an X-7 or the Malibu d-drive with the wraparound seating or something of the likes. Still around the same price, little more expensive, but used ones are just as good and for a lot less. And please don't go with the fact that the d-drive isn't a big enough wake and whine that it's not the "true wakeboard boat" and blah blah blah.
BTW kyle f, where you located on Norris? |

I am up on the West end... or North depending on how you look at it. I usually put in at Norris Dam, and have friends with House boats at Sequoia, Moutain Lake, and usually eat at Twin Cove. _________________ Always looking for others who ride on Norris Lake in TN

Yea man... I am always there.
Just keep me in mind and send me a PM when you are on here and I will see if I can get a crew together for an evening. Or afternoon depending on when you are down here.
Oh and the wake behind the Axis looks quite nice. _________________ Always looking for others who ride on Norris Lake in TN
