I typically don't post questions but I am going in circles researching boats. Over the past three months I have been reading posts off this site and talking with friends which way to go. Unfortunately my circle of friends are not reliable resources for info. The boat will primarily be used for wakeboarding and here are the boats I have been researching
2001-2003 Mastercraft X-STAR
2001-2003 Nautique Super Air 210
2002-2004 Moomba Mobius LSV
2002-2004 Malibu Wakesetter
Don't know much about Tige or Supra but open to info on them or any other boat that I didn't list
Am I on the right track first of all and if so which one
I am a novice one year rider that is looking to purchase a boat that I will not grow out of. Looking for big air and good quality.
Please give me unbiased feedback

IMO you cannot go wrong with:
02 Xstar
02-03 SAN
or as an option look for
04-06 Sanger V215

I would stay out of Supra and Moomba prior to 2003. I believe their quality back then wasn't where they are now. My preference would be either the X-star or SAN, possibly leaning toward the X-star.

Actually I guess I should add more about why. The reason I would lean toward the X-Star is because of it's wake. It's a really good balance of steep and rampy. The SAN is a little too steep for me sometimes, other times I love it. The landings can be tough because of the size of the landing wake (being so steep). The VLX is a too rampy IMO. If you add a wedge it has a better shape.
I don't think you can go wrong with either of the 3 but I would personally rank them
1. X-Star
2. SAN
3. VLX
The build quality in those years MC and CC might be a little better. Malibu is on par with them now.
A lot depends on the boat itself. Do a search for buying a used boat on this website and make sure you do a thorough inspection before buying.

| as much as i love mastercrafts, i can honestly say you can't go wrong with a 01-03 SAN. i'd rank the SAN and X-Star both as #1, VLX #2 (or 3, whichever you prefer) and the mobius doesn't even make the list for me.

when you guys are talking about a 01-02 San, what boat are you talking about? Sanger? If so which model?
Thanks for all the input

Never heard of Sanger WOW!! Great Co.
Last night I spent an over an 1 hr & 45 min watching short video clips of each step in their boat construction process on the Sanger web site. What a company they put true craftsmanship into each handmade boat. The fact that they only produce 400 boats per/year and 95% of everything on the boat is built in-house tells me that the quality is unparalleled. The education I have from their site now allows me to compare the real quality of these boats. Stuff I never would have thought about.
As of right now I am including the Sanger V215 in my search b/c of of the quality but what is it like to ride behind one? Wake size? ect. Price seams very reasonable too

Take some for a ride. If someone wants to sell, they will take you out in it. Then if you ride in one type of boat and dont like it then cross it off the list. IMO you will get a newer nicer boat with less hours if you go with a Moomba. I own an 06' Mobius LSV and love this boat. The wake is very good. The motor is an indmar. Same motor used in numerous othe boats. You could find a good deal in this economy and pick up the same boat I own in the low 30k range. The hull changed on this boat in 06'. Some people say to stay away from the older Moombas and I don't know. But as far as the newer models they are built as well as any of the other boats out there, at a fraction of the cost. That is why they are selling so many of them these days. Just my $ 00.02....

You will not be disappointed in the V215 wake performance. They are the bomb. I have a 210, its similar, just a bit steeper from what I read.
