I wanted to see how many people have Stargazer or the paddle wheel version on their I/O's and see what their opinions on it are and how it works and just general thoughts about it. Please let me know...

I have the paddlewheel version. Awesome. Keeps you within 0.3MPH of the set speed on its worst day. I hate riding behind a boat that doesn't have it.

Awesome...I have to have a dealership do the work or my 7 yr extended warranty will void out the engine and electronics...but they are def giving me the hookup on install and PP...

I'd double-check that with the warranty issue. That sounds like some dealer BS to have an excuse to charge you some more money. From what I know of the paddlewheel version, you don't hook anything electronic to anything that you already have. You hook up a cable to the throttle control and you borrow a power lead from your tach. That is garbage, IMHO.

I agree...I called them yesterday to make sure about everything and their reasoning behind it was for liability purposes I guess, (licensed installer vs me). I like the extended warranty because I just pay 50 bucks and it covers whatever messes up with the engine or electronics (aside from running it up on a rock or something that I could have prevented.) The place im getting it done for is only charging me about 150 to install it so I can't complain too bad...They have taken better care of me than the dealer has...plus he's done it on a carbed engine before.

Well, if you trust them and it is that cheap then I guess that is not too bad of a deal. Agreed on the warranty, as I have the same. I just don't see how any aspect of installing could void your warranty if you followed the directions. Regardless, you're going to be VERY pleased with that setup.

Yeah, they have been doing the install for a while and they have ben around for at least 10 years that I can remember...The Mercury warranty program is good, but even when I mentioned oil changes and winterization by a non mercury certified place (place putting in the PP) they said they would lean against it as it could void other pieces (I guess they assume a mercury cert tech knows a better way to change oil or winterize, I'm not sure). They didnt say not to use the non cert place, but they did express that they would suggest against it. lol...
I can't wait to get it though..no more yelling between people (a little up, a little down) and no more random mph jumps or drops...oh it will be so nice.
Do you know if the stargazer wakeboard edition supports different rider profiles?
I went to PP's website and they are very general and don't state alot of its features.....

I don't know, but if it is Wakeboard Pro with the GPS instead of a paddlewheel I don't know why it wouldn't. WB Pro is awesome-just switch names and you are set. I even set one up on mine for "Guest" and one for "Beginner" to give them good speeds if they don't ride at mine. Maybe a little overkill, but what the heck? I paid for the features-might as well use them.

My only gripe about PP is that it doesn't give water temp without having to hit a certain combo of buttons at startup.

Awesome, I can't wait to get it...I know that I won't get water temps for sure since I won't have a paddle wheel. I know that if you have a paddle wheel and you upgrade to stargazer it has an interface to still use the paddlewheel for water temp only then...

Have the WB Pro w/addle wheel and best $$ I have spent on the boat. Can't imagine owning a boat to wake board with without one.

I put PP Stargazer on my last boat which was an I/O. Took a little tweeking with the Kdw, but once I got that dialed in it worked great. Was a very simple install (no drilling) Smile and best money I spent on the boat.

SilverMustang35, you never told us how your PP worked out as far as the riding experience goes. Was expecting to share in your excitement... Question

LOL, Im sorry man, we got it installed that week and then took it out that weekend...alot of it was tweaking and setting the KDW and weight properly...I tested it for maybe 30 minutes..Water temp was 62 and air was 64...I have another prop im swapping it out with and this year will be more of the real test...Sadly I didn't get to test it last year really because the day after we got it winterized and temps dropped to freezing that week....This is the real first nice day we have had in a long while...boat is still winterized and im afraid of another cold snap so im kinda waiting it out...but don't worry, Once I get a real test with the right pitch prop and everything set up I will let you know completely my thoughts and experience with it. From the 30 minutes I tested, I prolly got a true 15 out after tweaking....I was VERY impressed! Perfect Pass is the bomb and I know my Fiance was stoked about it too and talked about how she liked it...Hopefully in less than a month ill be testing real world!

what kind of prop are you putting on? I just put a Merc Hi-5 23p on my Q4L with the carb'd 4.3L. It was definitely worth the $440ish I spent on it.

Well, I am going from a 21 pitch on my 4.3 carbed to a 19 pitch...had it from my last boat so quick spline change and im good. I'd love to put a Hi-5 on it, maybe in the short future...right now i've been wet-sounds-ing it out...lol..tons of that to install. BTW, If anybody is interested in bazooka tower speakers at a good price let me know lol
